About Orenda:

For the past two years, Orenda has been working to make engaging and effective education accessible for children across Pakistan. We have taken the national curriculum of Pakistan and converted it into a cartoon series; each episode of the series teaches a particular learning outcome. This way, all of our students remained hooked to their academics, and as a result, perform better too! Doing this has won us recognition from the Nobel Peace Committee as well as the Queen of England.

Whereas our content was always deployed in schools to improve performances and prevent drop outs, it is now being deployed to educate 1000 out of school girls. This presents a unique challenge, as well as a fascinating opportunity. A challenge because e-learning for our of school populations is still new territory for the organization. An opportunity because it will allow education to be taken to remote and hard to access areas, giving girls the chance to achieve an education at their own schedule and discretion.

Cluster Coordinator:

The cluster coordinator will be a critical component in ensuring that the children who receive our e-learning program continue their education in a seamless, trouble free way.

For this deployment, the CC will be based out of locations in Southern Punjab, where they will visit each village where girls are out of school, and create clusters (or study groups) of girls that will continue the next year of their education in their communities through the use of our devices.

In this project, since we will be working specifically with adolescent girls, our preference is to have female field workers, who are not afraid to go the last mile in these areas. They will be interacting with women and their daughters; something our male fieldwork staff cannot do. In doing so, they will be playing a critical role to educate and bring to the mainstream 1000 such girls who have been deprived of an education.

Skills Required:

A successful applicant will be:

- Courageous: There is a lot of courage that is required to hold these conversations with communities in which the status quo intends to keep these girls out of school.

- Innovative: In the past, our interventions have gone through a rapid iteration process in the face of emerging evidence that we gather from the field. Candidates must possess the ability to look at a situation/evidence from multiple angles, and come up with creative ways to solve problems.

- Resilient: Travelling and living in these areas is tough (and radically different from life in the cities). We expect our candidates to be accommodating of the challenges that come along with work in underserved areas!
