As a Community Communication Officer at Sidat Hyder Morshed Associates, a UNICEF Project, I lead the Social and Behavior Change (SBC) Team for the Pakistan Polio Eradication Initiative in District Central Karachi. This initiative is a crucial public health project aimed at eliminating polio from the country. With over 9 years of experience in education management, working with schools, principals, and teachers to improve education quality for underprivileged children, I bring a strong foundation to my current role.
My academic background includes a Master of Philosophy in Education and a Master's degree in International Relations and Affairs. These qualifications equip me with the knowledge and skills to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, design and implement strategic plans, and evaluate and monitor the impact of educational programs. I am deeply passionate about empowering communities and schools through education, communication, and collaboration, and I am committed to upholding the values and vision of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative.
· Plan, Organize and facilitate community meetings, focus group discussions, and other participatory activities to involve community members in immunization planning, implementation, and monitoring at Town Level.
· Plan and organize community mobilization activities such as community meetings, door-to-door visits, and community outreach events.
· Develop and maintain relationships with community stakeholders, including local leaders, health workers, and community-based organizations.
· Develop and disseminate SBCC materials, posters, videos, and social media content, to raise awareness and promote acceptance of immunization.
· Collaborate with other immunization staff and partners to ensure community engagement and SBCC activities are aligned with overall immunization goals and objectives.
· Collect and analyze feedback from community members and stakeholders to inform immunization design and implementation.
· Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of community engagement and SBCC activities and adjust strategies as needed.
· Prepare regular reports on community engagement and SBCC activities and outcomes for immunization management and donors.
· Participate in training and capacity building activities to improve knowledge and skills related to community mobilization and immunization programs.
Advocacy communication and mobilization
Ensure support in field assessment for actual requirement of the CBVs in identified areas for implementation of CBV as per High risk categorization coordination with town and District System and 3rd party vendor.
Ensure enforcement of the field assessment by the District Polio Control Room of the respective district and provincial EOC and work as Bridge between CBV manager and field staff working at district level.
Coordinate through CBV manager for CBV related information to be shared with the provincial EOC and UNICEF team lead.
Prepare plan for recruitment of the human resource including CBV (CHW) and the supervisory tiers in coordination with 3rd party.
Ensure timely hiring of the human resource for CBV strategy where and when required.
Regularly monitor turnover of the human resource under the CBV approach and ensure 100% positions are filled as per the agreed target and with due process followed.
Ensure capacity building of selected HR in coordination with the 3rd party training coordinator.
Provide weekly and monthly report on implementation status of the project to CBV manager and provincial EOC.
Ensure proper flow of information/updates on CBVs with partners (WHO, N-STOP, Eyecon) and between District control room to UC level to ensure all field staff is kept update about program activities.
Prepare presentations/updates/briefs and reports on CBVs progress for the DPCR/EOC and UNICEF as and when required.
Maintain photo, video and story bank of the CBV activities to support outreach advocacy efforts for vaccination activities.
Plan and prepare for any emergency situation.
