Structural engineers design buildings and other types of structures. They build 2D and 3D models using computer-aided design technology (e.g. AutoCAD). They measure loads and presses to secure structural soundness. Structural engineer duties also include collaborating with contractors and guiding construction workers onsite.
Responsibilities:
Building structures based on technical specifications
Tracking project progress and reporting on results
Choosing appropriate materials to ensure durability
Activities:
Conduct technical feasibilities for WASH and community infrastructure schemes.
Conduct field water quality tests for all water supply schemes (gravity, hand pumps, dug wells etc.)
Train masons/artisans on schemes design and engineering techniques.
Technical Supervision
Activities:
1. Develop BOQs and design for culturally appropriate, environmentally sound, disasterresilient and sustainable WASH facilities and rehabilitation work like, hand pumps, community and Govt CPI schemesin target areas.
Supervise all construction works related to water supply and sanitation including sanitation platforms, masonry foundations, laying of pipes.
Supervise installation and start-up of operations of all water supply, latrine construction activities
Design WASHand community physical infrastructure as per requirement and engineering standards.
Prepare technical designs and BOQs and ensure that all the construction work is implemented as per approved designs and engineering standards and share with relevant government departments if necessary
Ensure storage and delivery of related materials, equipment, tools and consumables on worksite and maintenance of proper records.
Plan and supervise all other environmental sanitation activities including waste drainage Lobbying / Advocacy and capacity building of target area beneficiaries.
Conduct monthly evaluation of program activities to determine the success of interventions, write routine progress reports and recommend changes in program activities to the Project officer.
Support logistic department in procurement of construction material and ensure safe storage in the community
Handover all completed schemes to beneficiaries and line departments.
Perform other duties as required related to construction.
Major Responsibilities
Preparation and verification of engineering cost estimates and bill of quantities.
Verification of contactor’s (Interim Payment Certificates)IPCs.
Preparation and verification of price adjustments / variation orders according to conditions of contract / Technical specifications.
Preparation of weekly and monthly progress reports.
Other relevent duties assigned by Officer In-charge.

Prepare contracts and documents
Set budgets for payments, inventory needs, and materials
Analyze costs for maintenance and additional building needs
Keep track of construction materials and inventory
Identify potential financial or construction risks
Advise clients on improvements, strategies, and/or estimated costs
Prepare payments for contractors and subcontractors
Document progress, materials, and reports on project
Advise on property taxes, regulations, and local laws
Source maintenance costs and facilities management for clients
Develop and maintain working relationships with contractors and subcontractors
Utilize software to calculate, record, and track inventory and estimates
