The IRC has proposed a 5.5-month cash assistance program which will be disbursed through mobile money transfer mechanisms using biometric verification in Peshawar, Swat, and D.I. Khan Districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The districts are selected on a scoring criterion for recent disasters such as flood damage, locust invasion, COVID caseload, and also complex vulnerabilities such as HDI ranking, access to basic WASH facilities, malnutrition rates, and literacy rates. The project will reach 28,253 (197,771 individuals) of the most vulnerable families with cash transfers in these districts. The beneficiaries will be selected from BISP data (40%) and through community-based targeting (60%). The beneficiaries selected from BISP data will be provided with a one-time transfer of PKR 10,500 and those selected through community consultation will be provided 22,500 to cater food needs of the vulnerable families. The Benazir Income Support Programme EHSAAS/(BISP) National Socio-Economic Registry (NSER) and EHSAAS data will be used for BISP beneficiaries’ selection.
