As an Intelligent Transportation System Engineer (Maintenance and Operations) at M5 Motorway Ghotki Traffic Control Center, my job responsibilities include:
Managing and maintaining the ITS infrastructure, including data management servers, toll collection platforms, fiber optic network (OFC), video surveillance and monitoring system on Plaza and Mainline, advanced traffic management system, advanced traveler information system, overloading controlling system and power supply for ITS system devices on Plaza and Mainline for efficient flow of operations.
Interpreting standard operating procedures (SOP) to high-performing operators, technical workers, and administrative staff of operations. Identifying needs for skills improvement and conducting training for operators and technicians to improve efficiency.
Overseeing the operations of toll collection and reports, including detailed summaries of toll reports.
Ensuring seamless operations of traffic control center, tolling and weighing systems that include maintenance of lane controllers, automatic railing, traffic signals, fee display, fog lamps, canopy traffic lights, automatic vehicle classifier AVC, and lane cameras.
Planning preventive, corrective maintenance, repair services, and preparing service reports.
Managing and supervising a team responsible for the continuity of network communication of Traffic Control Center (TCC) with Traffic Operation Center (TOC) and ITS infrastructure at motorway mainline. Multi-mode fiber optic cable 48F used for communication channel. The team has to carry out fusion splicing of optical fiber, ODF, patch cards, network cable UTP (cat6, cat7, etc.) cleaning and replacing.
Configuring, debugging and integration of CCTV, ANPR with NVR, decoder, video wall and traffic management server.
Managing and supervising a team of electricians and HVAC technicians for testing and maintenance of the power system, including an off-grid PV system of 2KW on the mainline, online UPS (15 kVA and 20 kVA), and air conditioning system at Plaza.
Attending meetings and preparing minutes of the meeting with clients and assistant employer representatives (AER) for system upgrade (as per the requirement of the client) and punch list clearance.
