Managed the production floor in the production managers\' absence
It was the introductory visit for all the factories of the Aeronautical complex such as the Aircraft Manufacturing Factory (AMF), Aircrafts Rebuild Factory (ARF), Mirage Rebuild Factory (MRF), and Avionics Production Factory (APF). Most of the training was done at AMF. In this factory, we studied the various mechanical testing techniques for both destructive and non-destructive testing. The particular learning was on the Dye Penetrant Testing, Ultrasonic Testing, Radiographic Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, and Mass Spectrometry. The destructive testing was hardness testing, microscopic analysis, and Charpy impact testing.
The internship was commenced in the summer vacations at the end of the 3rd year.
Tank Manufacturing Factory (TMF): The department was working on the manufacturing and testing of tanks. I have worked on the research project whose aim was to find better ways in order to increase the efficiency of welding electrodes used in the arc welding for tank parts.
Development, Engineering Support, and Component Manufacture (DESCOM): In this department, I visited a number of workshops which include heat treatment, surface treatment, and foundry works. Also, I studied the manufacturing processes for tanks, guns, and military gears being used in their manufacturing workshop.
ARDIAC: The department was working on the material testing techniques for the manufactured parts. I received hands-on experience for destructive and non-destructive techniques. The destructive techniques included hardness testing, impact testing, and secondary ion mass spectrometry. There were various NDT such as Ultrasonic Testing (UT) and Radiographic Testing (RT).
