“I never teach my pupils, I only attempt to provide the conditions in which they can learn,” being an advocate of creative learning, an educator who believes in breaking the stereotypical teaching methods and an artist, I couldn’t agree more with this statement from Albert Einstein.

I am a skilled and well-qualified teacher of art and design with an extensive experience, teaching various class levels of different age groups, including GCSE, IGCSE and AS/A2. I have served as a Head of Art and Design for five years and I have also served as CIE Internal Moderator. I am trained in most fields of Fine Art and am committed to my career.

Currently, I am working at the American School of Creative Science, Sharjah where I teach art and design to students of Grades 4 and 5. I have designed the elementary art curriculum with the purpose of introducing the basics of art history and a variety of skills and concepts to the students. Projects include drawing, painting and collage. In some instances, projects will link to other subjects in the curriculum but I also try to introduce students to the wider world of art, and some aspects of UAE heritage and culture.

Since starting at the American School of Creative Science, I have raised the profile of the Art department through cross-curricular links and vibrant displays including the Annual Art Show. I’m always available to other members of staff if they need help and advice regarding creative projects.

I am fortunate, as my career to date has been enriching in many ways. I enjoy teaching secondary pupils as often, I introduce students to various skills and techniques and different art practices. In all age groups, I have endeavoured to deliver stimulating lessons based on artists or artistic movements, different culture and personal experiences as well as the more formal aspects of art and design. I believe, Art is a vital part of school life because as well as providing an outlet for individual expression.
