Calculation of Zinc and Aluminum alloy sacrificial anodes efficiency in sea

The purpose of this research work is to calculate the anode efficiency of aluminum and zinc alloy anodes. The efficiency is calculated by the NACE standard TM0190. The standard uses the impressed current laboratory testing for aluminum and zinc anodes. The experiment is done in seawater which was prepared by the composition given in the standard ASTM-D1141. The efficiency is calculated by Mass Loss Method and Hydrogen Evolution Method. The pH of the seawater is checked periodically and maintained by changing the seawater. One Aluminum and two Zinc Alloys Anodes are tested. The efficiency calculated by Hydrogen evolution method is 86.18% for aluminum alloy anode while it is 97.32% for zinc alloy anode 1 and 95.33% for zinc alloy anode 2. From mass loss method the efficiency for aluminum alloy anode is 93.43% and for zinc alloy anode 1 it is 41.90% and for zinc alloy anode 2 it is 66.58%.
