• Our “Resident Hydroponics Farm Manager” will manage end to end operations on our site and make high-level decisions about how to best utilize limited resources to maximize profits.
  • The hydroponics farm manager should have a thorough understanding of different vegetables grown in a hydroponic environment.
  • He needs to be comfortable with all different growing mediums (peat moss, soil, rock wool and dutch-bucket).
  • He will need to understand the equipment well enough to maintain and inspect it as well as make minor repairs.
  • Our hydroponics farm manager is expected to stay up to date about latest hydroponics technology and perform all administrative duties on the site as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing all site and on-farm activities that includes planning of all seeding, nursery, growing and harvesting
  • Hiring, training, and managing hydroponic growers and other support staff
  • Performing and assigning duties, such as cultivation, irrigation, harvesting, packaging, grading and equipment maintenance
  • Management, training and supervision of all farm staff
  • Observe workers to detect inefficient or unsafe work procedures or to identify problems and initiate preemptive corrective action as necessary
  • Oversee the Nutrient balancing and management of the hydroponics system, plant health, control of pests
  • Water quality testing (including pH, EC, temperature and other critical parameters
  • Adherence to and where required improvement of Standard Cultivation Operating Procedures and health and safety requirements, and ensuring that all farm activities are carried out accordingly
  • Providing periodic operations reports to the management team, reporting on progress vs targets and production reports
  • Requisition or purchase of supplies, such as insecticides, machine parts/lubricants, tools and implementation of stock control measures.
  • Working with owners to explore new revenue opportunities
  • Post-harvest processing including storage and packaging in preparation of sale
  • Coordination with logistics and sales staff to ensure correct timing of harvest-ready produce
  • Preparing a projected budget for the month and then working to ensure that costs remain within budget

Necessary Skills & Qualifications:

  • Being able to stay 24 hours on the site. The site is just in the outskirts of Karachi city.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in hydroponics farming (nutrient formulae, preparing solutions, nutrient requirements, deficiencies, toxicities, pH, Do, conductivity, salinity, growth regulators)
  • Extensive practical experience and knowledge about cultivating common greenhouse crops
  • Keen on learning, growing, and contributing with a small team of experienced people in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to work independently while contributing in a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and take initiative.
