The Technician is directly answerable to Head Nurse & through him to HOD & MS.
Will perform his duties according to the duty roster & orders.
Ensured patient safety at all time by keeping side rails up and by ensuring ID band is applied.
Identify correct patient by checking 2 identification.
Maintain effective communication at all time. Prevent from fall by keeping side rails up and assist patient in ambulatory.
Prevention from nosocomial infection by frequent hand washing and following infection control policies.
Provide safe care and prevent patient from injury and harm etc.
Take vital signs of patient, record in the patient file and report immediately any changes to the RN or nurse-in-charge.
Observe rhythm on the cardiac monitor and report abnormal findings, to assigned RN.
Provide hygiene care to assigned patients, e.g. bath, back, nail care, mouth, hair care in order to facilitate patient cleanliness and comfort.
Calculates I.V. fluid drop factors and administer IV fluid as prescribed by physician, under supervision of the RN and maintains fluid accurate balance charts and reports fluid imbalances.
Is able to remove Foleys catheter and or IV cannula.
Performs routine infant hygiene care,(NICU/PICU)
Identify abnormalities in lab results and inform assigned RN & record in patients file.
Carries out physical assessment of patient .E.g. height, weight and documents on flow sheet.
Updates standardize nursing care plan.
Conduct pre-op assessment, complete surgical check list.
Explain patient and family about delays in surgery, procedure and document in nursing notes.
Assist physician and nurse in unit based procedures.
Will be responsible for sterilization of instruments, linen, gowns, caps, masks, gloves, towels etc.
Will remain on call as per duty rota.
Will assist & cooperate with other health workers.
Will maintain records such as minor & major surgery register & stock register of instruments, drugs, anesthetics & heavy equipment.
Any other duty assigned to him by Head Nurse and MS from time to time.

Poverty is the root cause of every problem in the society, has no doubts worse affects on human life. Traditional gender roles in Pakistan especially in NWFP, which remains indulged in tribal culture, define the woman’s place as in the home and not in the workplace, and define the man as the breadwinner. Consequently, the society invests far less in women than men. Women in NWFP suffer more from poverty of opportunities throughout their lives as compared to other provinces. Economic vulnerability is a key factor in the rise of poverty in Pakistan; vulnerability also arises from social powerlessness, political instability, and ill-functioning institutions. Corruption and political instabilities such as various separatist movements in Baluchistan and Waziristan resulted in reduction of business confidence, deterioration of economic growth, reduced public expenditure, poor delivery of public services, and undermining of the rule of law. The root causes of current unrest in whole country especially FATA and FRS are linked with the absence of the opportunities for youth in all sections of life in general and particular in livelihoods. Active participation of the youth in decision making and development of the area is neglected and never given a chance to decide their fate. This made youth of the area frustrated and restless and compelled them to take part in the unhealthy activities. Poverty and the lack of modern curriculum have proved destabilizing factors for Pakistani society as these causes our youth to be exploited by religious organizations banned by the government to run schools and produce militant literature. Eradication of poverty cannot be brought about by charity, but needs first and foremost empowering the poor, focusing on women, and tapping their tremendous potential.
