As a Logistics officer he/she must have a clear understanding of organization’s objectives and be able to devise and implement policies. The diversity of work requires i.e. extensive knowledge and understanding of particular logistics principles, practices, methods and techniques.
Key RESPONSIBILITIES
· Conducts frequent field supervision of the overall non food and food management;
· Closely monitors commodity end use, warehouse management and relief supplies handling;
· Ensures that relief supplies management systems are properly functioning as per the program’s goal and objectives.
· Formulates and coordinates all relief supplies control measures, supplies tracking systems, accounting systems and generally accepted commodity accounting principles to ensure compliance at all levels.
· Identify requirements and establish and maintain all logistical infrastructures for administration and operations.
· Under the supervision of the Finance & Operations Manager, identify and analyze procurement and transport requirements including those of partner agencies as appropriate.
· Oversee the logistics management of emergency and regular food/noon food commodities from the time of arrival until its receipt at the final distribution centre through air or by road;
· In consultation with Country Office establishes and/or improves logistics control systems in line with donor regulations; Recommends for improvement of generic forms for utilization at receipt, dispatch, and disbursement of commodities/supplies.
· Trains logistics staff on commodity and supplies management related issues; Provides backstop support to Field offices to ensure that the projects prepare detailed supplies and food distribution plans, periodical supplies and food accomplishment reports and timely submission.
· Management of assets, controlling and checking that the asset’s inventory and follow-up is being properly done.
· Keeping a computerized track of all purchases.
Follow-up of the FLAT folders, making sure that every contract has all supporting documents attached.
