Field Engineer

The Field Engineer would be expected to provide support to Project in accordance with Organizational guidelines. Will be responsible for Working with communities through Organization's social mobilization Unit and design local projects in accordance with Organization vision, mission and objectives. Following this, (s)he is to follow Organization systems and procedures in technical issues; mainly related to organizational development.The Field Engineer will be based in district Jhang of Punjab where WASH ASWA-II project will be implemented. This position is expected to assume overall responsibility of civil works, Community investment Grant, Sanitation materials and conducting technical trainings in the community. The position is required to ensure that all the construction activities are in accordance to the standard specifications and in line with the desired project objectives.

Major Tasks

• Responsible for preparation of BOQs, drawings & cost estimates of community physical infrastructure projects
• Carry out (participate) in technical assessments at field level.
• Conduct the sanitation marketing assessments.
• Support supervisors in conducting the technical feasibilities and surveys
• Represent and introduce Qatar Charity's program in the local communities
• Contribute to the detailing of the civil work activities in the Project Implementation Plan (PIP
• Contribute to the Rapid Need Assessment and support in enlisting the areas where WASH is priority area for project implementation
• Contribute in identification of the beneficiaries for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene services in the communities in line with the Qatar Charity’s beneficiary selection policy.
• Provide technical inputs during the acceptance of incoming civil work supplies and materials in accordance to the specifications and standards.
• Provide technical support to the contractors/communities in installation of water safety points, hand pumps, installation of safe toilets
• Ensuring field presence to implement quality and quantity control measures during the project execution.
• Essentially following the approved design specifications as provided or providing technical inputs to the Country Office on the same, given the field realities.
• Keeping a track of the daily physical progress vis-à-vis the implementation. Alerting the line management of the deviations while recommending means to appropriately bring on-track.
• Maintaining good relations with the communities, notables and local contact persons to involve them in project activities and seek their support as and when required
• To ensure the self-safety and security by observing the security protocols of the country office and the donor. •    Ensure work complete as per work plan and schedules
• Resolve the conflicts on construction site. 
• Ensure the quality of construction work.
• Hand over the WASH infrastructure to community-based organization or committee.
• Monitor the contractors work including the work plans and quality of work if needed.
• Ensure safety procedures and rules are respected in the field by all workers.
• Prepare regular reports on the progress of construction for the assigned sites.
• Support SMU unit for distribution of sanitation materials, and ensure toilets construction
• Keep all record of sanitation marketing-related data, Assessment list, voucher’s and other tasked given by line manager
