Purpose & Background of the Position:

PO-SMU will be based in District Quetta Baluchistan where donor funded Emergency WASH project shall be implemented. The position holder is required to be mobile as S/he would be required to visit all targeted 08 districts within Baluchistan regularly. This position reports to the project manager (based in Quetta). A project team of around 16 Social Organizers will report to this position from different locations within Baluchistan province.This position is expected to support the project manager in project management, work with field engineers for community support and lead social mobilization unit for project planning and implementations with support from Qatar Charity’s (QC) Country Office in Islamabad. She/he will be working in close coordination with different sections in country office and also with QC’s provincial office in Quetta. The position is required to implement to ensure that all project interventions are relevant, efficient and meet desired goal and objectives.

Major Tasks:

As part of the Program Unit and under the direct supervision of the Project Manager, the incumbent of the post will have the following responsibilities:

• To supervise & lead social mobilization activities in targeted districts.

• Support the Social Mobilization team in developing a detailed implementation plan for social mobilization activities of the project.

• S/he is responsible to ensure WASH related project targets are met as per project agreement by leading the social mobilization team.

• Close Coordination with other project team for timely implementation of project interventions while adhering to QC’s Social Mobilization Strategy.

• To initiate actions, access and identify the needs and assist in promoting the Behaviour Change Communication Campaign (BCC Campaign).

• To ensure the CIG (community investment grants) utilization, provision of sanitation materials, among the ultra-poors and full-fill the relevant documentations.

• PO-SMU will be responsible for planning, development and implementation of hardware, software related data generation and its entry into database.

• To enhance the community participation in general body meetings including women children, disabled and poorest of the poor.

• Institutional building at grass root level (trainings/ capacity building)

• Assist the field engineer team in community infrastructure development, or wherever required or requested.

• Support in development of monthly and final reports

• Develop linkages with both Government line departments, NGOs and private sector organizations to ensure that technical assistance to be provided by the line departments and private sector organizations reaches most relevant communities.

• Develop, compile and regularly update the social mobilization information from all the targeted districts to the project manager and M&E person.

• Submit weekly & monthly reports to the project manager
