Job Description:

Requirements:

1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. A Professional Engineering (PE) certification would be an advantage.

2. Proven experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer, with experience in a leadership role.

3. Strong knowledge of CAD software and other engineering design tools.

4. Excellent understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.

5. Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead a team and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team and liaise across multiple departments.

7. Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, with a high level of attention to detail.

8. Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.

9. Ability to mentor and develop team members.

10. Strong innovation mindset, with a drive to improve processes and create effective, efficient solutions.

  Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead and manage a team of mechanical design engineers, providing guidance and support in their day-to-day activities.·    
2. Oversee the design, development, and testing of mechanical systems, components, and equipment.·   
3. Develop design specifications and requirements based on project needs.·     
4. Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality, and procurement, to ensure designs are feasible, cost-effective, and meet all necessary standards and regulations.·        
5. Review and approve designs, calculations, and technical drawings produced by the team.·   
6. Ensure that all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with the organization's established policies and objectives.·     
7. Provide technical expertise and support during product validation and field testing.·    
8. Drive continuous improvement initiatives, promoting a culture of innovation and excellence.·  
9. Provide mentorship and career development opportunities for team members.·      
10. Manage project timelines, resources, and risk assessments, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.· 
11. Design and develop mechanical components and systems for new products, from concept through production.·     
12. Create and modify 3D CAD models and drawings using software such as SolidWorks, or Pro/E.·   
13. Conduct engineering calculations to ensure that designs meet performance requirements and are cost-effective to produce.·    
14. Perform tolerance analysis and finite element analysis (FEA), and CFD to validate designs.·    
15. Develop prototypes for products using multiple prototyping techniques.·      
16. Collaborate with electrical engineers to integrate mechanical and electrical components into a single system.· 
17. Work with fabrication and manufacturing teams to ensure that designs are manufacturable, and provide input to improve production efficiency.·    
18. Develop and execute test plans to validate mechanical designs and ensure they meet performance requirements.·   
19. Prepare and present design reviews to project teams and management.·  
20. Work with suppliers to select materials and components that meet design requirements and cost targets.·  
21. Maintain accurate documentation of design specifications, test results, and other relevant information.· 
22. Ensure that all designs comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.·       
23. Identify potential design and manufacturing risks and develop mitigation strategies to avoid them.·    
24. Oversee project timelines, resources, and budgets to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within cost targets.·   
25. Liaise with quality assurance, research and development, sales, and marketing teams to incorporate their inputs into the design and manufacturing processes.·   
26. Provide technical support to the sales and marketing teams, helping them understand the features and benefits of new designs.·  
27. Incorporate sustainable design principles into product designs, considering the entire lifecycle of the product from raw materials to end-of-life disposal or recycling.· 
28. Training Mentor and train junior engineers and technicians, sharing your expertise and promoting best practices within the team.·     
29. Stay updated with the latest trends, technologies, and materials in the mechanical engineering field to continuously innovate and improve the product designs.·  
30. Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, facilitating negotiations for contracts and agreements.·       
31. Product Lifecycle Management Manage the entire lifecycle of the product from conception, through design and manufacture. 

Working Conditions:

• The role typically includes working in an office environment, but may also involve occasional site visits.
• Regular interaction with team members, management, and other departments is expected.
• The role may also require occasional travel.
