About the role

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Web Developer to join our marketing team! Reporting to the VP of Growth, you will be responsible for both back-end and front-end development, including creating super-fast custom WordPress themes, landing pages, optimizing/maintaining existing client websites and implementing analytics on websites.

Working with a range of local business clients across many different industries in North America and Australia, your role offers a total immersion into a busy digital agency with exposure to the creative, copywriting, and production teams.

Most of our marketing projects are on Wordpress so we need you to have a strong understanding of the latest industry trends and content management systems.
Requirements
- Excellent communication skills in English
- 4+ years of experience as a web developer or show us that you can do this regardless of how long you’ve been doing it
- Excellent WordPress theme skills
- Experience optimizing for faster page load time and better user experience using tools (PageSpeed Insights, GTmetrix, Pingdom)
- Ensuring high-performance and availability, and managing all technical aspects of the CMS
- Helping formulate an effective, responsive design and turning it into a working theme and plugin
- Very good front-end skills (HTML, CSS, Javascript.)
- Strong understanding of PHP back-end development
- Designing and implementing new features and functionality
- Establishing and guiding the website’s architecture
- Willingness to learn and be trained when projects require it
- Support the marketing team with your technical skills and whatever else needs coding.
- And most importantly, a positive attitude; friendly, and fun to work with
Optional skills:
- Experience with A/B testing, analytics tools (Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, Google Optimize, Unbounce, Hotjar, Optimizely, etc)
- Experience with Woocommerce
- Experience creating automated dashboards on Google Data Studio
- Familiarity with SEO
