The Diabetes Centre - (TDC) is a not for profit organization working to improve diabetes care and prevention.  The Diabetes Centre - (TDC) is seeking a dedicated and capable individual with a proven record of accomplishment in raising funds in the international development field. They will be responsible for developing and delivering on the overall marketing / fundraising strategy of the organization, supplementing existing grant funding with unrestricted funding from individuals, corporates, grant-makers and other sources.

The individual will be responsible for developing a diverse range of sustainable funding streams to support and expand the work of the charity, working in collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer.

Experience and Qualification:

Candidates are expected to possess the following experience and qualifications:

  1. Qualification: Masters’ degree in Communication and/or Business Administration (Marketing)
  2. Experience: At least 10 years of experience with International Humanitarian Organizations working in Pakistan. (Expat Experience will be given preference)
  3. Have professional experience working directly or as an Implementing Partner with International donors like USAID, DFID, AUSAID, CIDA, JICA, UN AGENCIES, World Bank, GIZ, ICRC, IFRC, EU etc.
  4. Experience of securing and working on major grants. Example could be (Ambassador’s Fund Grant Program (AFGP), Enhancing Learning and Research for Humanitarian Assistance (ELRHA) Grant, Lions Club Grant, Global Funds Grant, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Grant and other grants from USAID, DFID, Embassies etc.)
  5. Proven ability of development, securing and implementation of Financial Assistance MOUs, Bilateral and Trilateral Agreements and Contracts with INGOs and Donors Agencies.
  6. Brings along established linkages with focal persons in the donor agencies as well as a healthy working relationship with grant offering entities. Experience working with UN Agencies will be a plus point.
  7. Take responsibility for development and implementation of a short-term Plan resulting in achieving a minimum funding capitalization of 5,000,000 PKR in the first 3 months.
  8. Job Description & Line of reporting: 

The individual will report to Chief Executive Officer on progress against strategic fundraising targets. The role will include the following core responsibilities:

A.    FUNDRAISING / RESOURCE MOBILIZATION

  1. Develop and deliver a comprehensive and coherent fundraising strategy for the organization.
  2. Set and achieve realistic time-limited fundraising targets, agreed in consultation with key stakeholders.
  3. Create a sustainable and diverse fundraising portfolio, with funding streams including individuals, major gifts, corporates, community, events, trusts/foundations and other grant-makers, with appropriate priorities.
  4. Lead a fundraising campaign(s) including, event(s) based, school and school children directed, door-to-door and by directly pitching the donors.
  5. Support the development of large-scale international donors like Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Red Crescent, WHO, IDF etc., government authorities (provincial and federal), corporate sector (specially insurance and pharmaceuticals companies) in coordination with CEO.
  6. Carry out prospect research and develop a comprehensive fundraising database that captures all relevant information of donors, as well as handling all administrative aspects of fundraising such as Gifts, Aid, CSR etc, (including budgeting).
  7. Develop a strategy to keep TDC’s donors abreast of the activities and ensuring their time-to-time engagement.
  8. Raise enough funds to cater at least operational expenditure of organization through sales activities

B. RESOURCE MOBILIZATION OVERSIGHT AND REPORTING:

  1. Lead communication with key donors and funders with the aim of cultivating, growing and sustaining long-term funding and collaboration.
  2. Ensure reporting to funders is accurate, transparent and timely.
  3. Liaise with the relevant organizational stakeholders to ensure the organization’s cash flow and financial sustainability through careful budgeting, realistic fundraising targets and coordinating timely access to funds from supporters.

C.    STRATEGIC AND GOVERNANCE:

  1. Play a crucial role in shaping the future direction and growth of the funding, through input into meetings and the organizational strategic plan.
  2. Take ownership of organizational growth and funding, reporting to the CEO on progress against fundraising targets at quarterly meetings.

D.    GENERAL:

  1. Develop a deep understanding of the global issue of diabetes and key TDC issues including the assessment and quality improvement of services, care training, and the role of standards.
  2. Demonstrate commitment to The Diabetes Centre - (TDC) philosophy of empowering local partners and clinicians to deliver real and measurable improvements to patient care and outcomes.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to communicate these issues and philosophy effectively to donors, funders, supporters, and partners.
  4. Devising and executing a plan to attract Key Consultants to join TDC in Morning / Evening Clinics for patients suffering from diabetes and related complications.
  5. Policies and Procedures development for Marketing & Communication department in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
  6. Any other related task being assigned by Chief Executive Officer.

  2. A relevant additional qualification in fundraising (desirable).
  3. An understanding of the international health field and national health issues in Pakistan (desirable).

  6. Highly motivated and able to work independently to agreed goals and targets and take ownership of the overall fundraising programme of the organization.
  7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  8. Ability to work effectively as part of a small close-knit team.
  9. Adaptable and flexible to changing circumstances and needs of the role, including flexibility in working hours to ensure coordination with key clinical colleagues in different locations .
  10. Able to work under pressure, meeting key project and reporting deadlines.
  11. Commitment to confidentiality and respect for patient anonymity where appropriate.
  12. Willingness to travel to all Pakistan when necessary for role.
