Background

Pakistan is faced with a housing shortage of 10 million currently growing by 1 million every year. The population, 80% without a bank account, has been starved off house financing solutions for years. Pakistan’s housing finance-GDP ratio is one of the lowest in the world – 0.25% (South Asia: 3%, Bangladesh: 3%, India: 11%). 

Trellis’ mission is to fill this gap by providing affordable green mortgage solutions to low and middle income groups in Pakistan. This is expected to significantly boost financial inclusion, home ownership and economic activity in the country. The senior management team has a combined experience of over 50 years in international banking, hedge funds, capital markets and financial technology.

As a new company, we need self-motivated, driven generalists with senior-level experience. For driven individuals, this role provides a unique opportunity to grow rapidly and work with many types of technologies. We will heavily rely on cloud-native, open source technologies with the intent to give back and make a difference. In addition to supporting our business needs, you will have the chance to have a public impact on multiple open source communities making technology more accessible to all.

Primary Responsibilities

We are hiring a Director of Business Management to work directly with the CEO and broader leadership team. In this role, you will be responsible for business strategy and operations, creating and managing the business management oversight, delivering specific projects and initiatives, and driving business processes, procedures, and communications. In this role you will be a member of the senior leadership team and a key factor in our success.

Responsibilities

Operational Strategy: Partner with the management team to articulate objectives, key results and deliverables for each functional area. Measure the outcomes relative to those stated goals. Partner with key stakeholders across the organization to ensure the management team is well represented across all relevant org wide deliverables and processes. Use this to articulate the strategic vision for Trellis for both internal & external stakeholders over a short & medium term time horizon

Team Operations: Focus on effective collaborations, increased productivity and overall organizational performance by driving the overall business oversight, including all-hands-on meetings, extended management meetings, monthly business reviews, offsites and other team events. The role also requires the monitoring of performance & evaluation of all employees through previously defined metrics.

Communications: Work with the CEO and senior management to develop presentations and messaging relating to the team’s mission, its key projects, people development efforts, and team culture initiatives. Create and drive business oversight & execution for both team and external to team communications.

Business Intelligence: define Operations & Business Management oversight through the definition of target processes & best practices. Further to this, the candidate would define metrics of measurement & identify target benchmarks, business MIS & analytics defined, which would allow senior management to evaluate the performance of various processes & internal resources.

Our ideal candidate has experience as a mortgage banker or in Housing Finance, ideally having strong on-the-ground experience having worked their way up through the ranks, and are ready for a new challenge in a C-level role. This candidate will have overseen significant growth in current or prior roles, and have a demonstrated ability to lead teams to be effective and efficient while bringing out the best in every teammate.
