• Ascertain a strong, consistent and plausible examination/evaluation system in the university.
  • Improve the quality of examination and evaluation, and ensuring credibility of the processes of the examination systems.
  • Ensure that all components of the examination system follow the rules and policies of the university.
  • Prepare and announce in advance the calendar of examinations.
  • Arrange for printing of question papers.
  • Arrange to get sessional evaluation of the candidates at the examinations properly assessed, and process the results.
  • Arrange for the timely notification of results of examinations.
  • Postpone or cancel examinations, in part or in whole, in the event of malpractices or if the circumstances so warrant, and take disciplinary action or initiate any civil or criminal proceedings against any person or a group of persons or a college or an institution alleged to have committed malpractices.
  • Take disciplinary action where necessary against the candidates, paper-setters, examiners, moderators, or any other persons connected with examinations and found guilty of malpractices in relation to the examinations;
  • Review from time to time, the results of university examinations and forward reports thereon to the Academic Council.
  • Build, maintain and improve the policies of the university to make them flexible enough to adapt with the changing environment on constant basis.
  • Refer unfair means cases to the relevant unfair means committee in relation to examination matters for carrying out investigation and issue notices thereof.
  • Coordinate with the Convocation Committee in organizing the graduating ceremony of the University, where distinctions and degrees are conferred upon.
  • Organize Rector’s and Dean’s Merit Award Ceremony in every semester.
  • Maintain the secrecy and sanctity of examinations department.
  • Receive and post final results of the candidates and provide safe custody.
  • Oversee the distribution of results to candidates. 
  • Resolve examination clashes. 
  • Notify the management for all the cases of infringement of rules of examinations with full report for disposal.
  • Review performance of all OCE staff members.
  • The Controller shall exercise such other powers and performs such other duties as may be prescribed or assigned to him, from time to time, by the Rector.
