Reports to: Business CEO

JOB OBJECTIVE:

Ensure national and international quality parameters are met for each product with accuracy and efficiency.

 KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Description

Quality Certification & Standards Compliance:

  • Ensuring all standards are achieved as per certifications and national and international standards.
  • Ensuring every product meets health, safety and quality standards.
  • Create standards in accordance with industry standards and customer expectations.
  • Collaborate with the upper management team to set quality benchmarks.

Legal Requirements:

  • Ensure adherence to safety, health and quality guidelines and obligations meeting legal requirements as well.

Development of Team:

  • Train and manage a team of quality control technicians.

Documentation & Analysis:

  • Ensure accurate documentation and record keeping.
  • monitor performance by gathering relevant data and produce statistical reports.

New Product Development:

  • Devise and review specifications for new products or processes, provide guidance and feedback.

Coordination with Production:

  • Record findings and relay this information to the production team.
  • Oversee production to ensure conformity in final product processing.

Executive Reporting:

  • Submit detailed reports to designated executives as required.

Solicit Customer Feedback:

  • Solicit feedback from customers to assess whether their requirements are met.

Quality Control SOP and Process Improvement:

  • Understanding customer needs and requirements to develop effective quality control processes.
  • Oversee all product development procedures to identify deviations from quality standards
  • Improve reliability of new product development processes.
  • Measure performance and identify any areas of weakness, recommending and implementing improvements
  • Devise and establish a company's quality procedures, standards and specifications.
  • Review products, processes and systems on an ongoing basis to determine where to look at ways to reduce waste and increase efficiencies so improvements can be made.

Product Review:

  • Devise and review specifications for products or processes, provide guidance and feedback.
  • Inspect final output and compare properties to requirements.
  • Approve the right products and reject defectives

Quality Testing:

  • Ensure adequate testing tools, methodologies are used and lab/testing facilities are up to the mark
  • Ensure staff is properly trained in testing methodologies and use, recording and reporting of testing tools.

Ensuring quality in supply chain:

  • Set requirements for raw material or intermediate products for suppliers and monitor their compliance.
  • Work with commercial department and procurement heads to establish quality requirements from external suppliers.

COMMUNICATIONS & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:Internal: Manufacturing, Procurement, Sales department

External: International, National/Government standards and regulatory bodies and quality audit agencies. FRAMEWORKS, BOUNDARIES, & DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY:

  • Recommending and Approving Testing Tools, Tests to be performed and parameters. 
  • Approving raw materials, intermediate products, semi finished and finished products.
  • Approving modifications.
  • Approving new product development specifications.
  • Approving quality control processes.
  • Approving certifications and standards.   

 

QUALIFICATION(S) & EXPERIENCE: 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in preferably in chemical engineering from a recognized national or international university.
  • Certification/degree in quality management.

Minimum Experience:

  • Preferably 15 - 20 years of experience in manufacturing consumer durables good, large manufacturing organization.
  • Successful track record of implementing standards, improving quality KPI’s, qualifying for certifications and achieving top rating in certification audits.  

  COMPETENCIES

Technical Knowledge & Skills:

  • Product categories of foam, mattress, accessories or related/similar product range/consumer durable goods.
  • Working knowledge of all applicable standards and certifications.
  • Working knowledge of testing facility.

Behavioral Skills:

  • Excellent knowledge of the manufacturing process.
  • Sound problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Planning and organization skills.
  • Critical thinking and good analytical skills.
  • Detailed knowledge of principles, policies, procedures, and internal processes pertaining to quality management.
