My name is Uzma Miraj. I am from a small village in the Hunza district called Passu. I am a graduate student and I have done my bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences from Fatima Jinnah Women University, Rawalpindi. I have some work experience as well. Recently, I have completed six months Internship program in Divisional Forest Office Hunza and my major responsibilities were field visits, site inspection, people consultation, data collection and report writing. I have also worked as a Trainee Reporting Officer in Asian Environmental Services, Lahore. Before this internship, I had worked in Procurement Internation in Islamabad. There I was involved in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) reports and also did a detailed study on solid waste management in Pakistan. Furthermore, I had worked in Environmental Protection Agency- Gilgit Baltistan for almost six weeks. During my internship, I learned about the reviewing of EIA reports. I had also participated in the Eco-Internship Program organized by WWF-Pakistan for four months. It was a very productive internship. During my eco-internship program, I worked with a group of people on a project which was about water conservation. The main purpose of the project was to educate and aware people regarding the importance and safe usage of water. Therefore, we went to the public schools in Islamabad and there our main target were the primary level students. We conducted various presentations on the importance and safe usage of water. My hobbies are sports, cooking, reading books, traveling, hiking and gardening.
I am working as an intern in the lrganization on Ten Billion Tree Tsunami Project. My major responsibilities are site inspection, public consultation, data collection and management and report writing.
I was part of a project called The Lahore Master Plan. In this project, I majorly worked on the Reporting Section. In the Reporting Section, I worked on reporting the samples which used to come from the field for testing and also worked in the laboratory for the sample test.
