Design and Development of the Surveillance Robot

Surveillance systems and their applications have accomplished the rapid growth and become the significant urban infrastructure. This project describes the design and implementation of surveillance system. An autonomous video analytics system which detects and captures the human face using OpenCV and sends that captured image as an email alert. Live video streaming and controlling of the robot movement through a web-page makes this project more efficient and reliable. Two DC gear motors are used to control the movement of robot in all directions. To avoid single direction monitoring, two servo motors are also installed which rotate the camera along different (Pan and Tilt) directions. To make the surveillance robot more flexible, speed control at different speed levels is also achieved using PWM technique. A tank chassis is used which is much effective than ordinary one (with simple wheels) for robot movement on rough places. A gun shoot sound detection system is also installed on the robot which detects the gun shoot through microphone and alerts via email. Robot can be monitored and controlled from any place via web-page and a secure Wi-Fi connection. The Raspberry Pi board also known as Mini PC, controls all the features of surveillance robot. These security and surveillance systems have many applications in industries, banks, shopping malls, geographical research, wildlife care and military purposes.
