1. In support of the Programme Manager / Head of Unit, lead day-to-dayi mplementation of upcoming project activities linked to transition and recovery Shelter and Non-Food Items (NFIs), including preparation of the project; liaison with authorities, donors and partners; oversight of day-to-day implementation capacity building of field staff; monitoring and reporting; and related activities.
2. Undertake regular visits to the areas of operation for the purposes of project monitoring, staff capacity building, liaison with local authorities and partners, etc.
3. Develop new project tools, guidelines, SOPs and suggest new Shelter thematic areas of interventions.
4. Work closely with staff, partners, and government to ensure appropriate project design; incorporation of lessons learned from earlier, similar projects; and lead capacity building efforts to ensure best practices are implemented in Shelter project activities. Develop and maintain a system to ensure continual feedback.
5. Liaise with counterparts and partners, draft progress and other required reports and ensure that project data and information is archived and shared appropriately.
6. Regularly participate and represent IOM Shelter unit in working groups, cluster,partner, and donor meetings when required
7. Directly supervise project staff (Project Assistant, daily worker), provide training and day to day mentoring to ensure smooth running of the projects, and evaluate their work on SES system.
8. Examine the accomplishment of the work plans by the implementing partners and field teams and coordinate with M&E unit to develop project monitoring plan
9. As required, support in the drafting of concept notes, proposals, reports, and budgets, and monitor project budgets, expenditures and burn rates according to internal and donor requirements.
10. Working closely with the Resource Management unit, coordinate all procurement,logistics, finance, HR, and administrative tasks for Shelter & NFI project activities.
As a Program Coordinator, I have led multiple projects of different donor agencies over the years and have successfully completed them.
ECHO-IX and ECHO-XI were multi-sectoral projects. Based on drought conditions, the project had intense inputs for nutrition section formulated on CMAM approach, and supporting the underlying causes of malnutrition, cash based activities were introduced for the livelihoods section of the projects. In the WASH section, through CLTS/PATS appraoch, latrines were constructed along with rain-harvesting underground water tanks were also provided. Solarized dug wells were also part of these projects, where deep dug wells were solarized through provision of submersible pumps powered through solar plates.
Concern also initiated a nutrition-specific intervention namely CMAM-Surge, which earlier Concern has been successfully piloting and implemented in some african countries as well. I remained actively involved in preparing the national guidelines for the pilot project which is being piloted in Umerkot, Sindh.
Concern was awarded a DRR program through DFID namely Buiilding Disaster Resilience in Pakistan (BDRP). The program was implemented in 09 different districts of Pakistan. I was honored to be leading the project for Tharparkar district, which is prone to drought and other natural calamities. Through different approaches, a detailed DRR training was delivered to the villages, UCs and district level stakeholders. The project had CSA/CA inputs through FFS, where farmers were trained on alternate methods of agriculture. For off-farm activities, vocational trainings to both males and females were provided. WASH section included construction of rain-harvesting underground water tanks, and solarized dug wells.
I am also leading a similar project through USAID/BHA namely Sindh Drought Resilience Project (SDRP) for 02 districts.
I have also successfully led and completed 02 flood-emergency projects for the floods of 2020 through IOM led program funded by DFID. We provided the beneficiaries with shelter material, sessions on building back better and safer, and sessions on health and hygiene as well. Along with these, all beneficiaries were provided with cash in support of the construction of their shelters.
Apart from regular programs, Concern is also responding to the global pandemic of COVID-19, through different interventions, which covers provision of PPEs, awareness sessions, and provision of Hand-washing stations at various health facilities. I am assiting in the Concern\'s responses to the pandemic as well.
As a Program Coordinator, i am also responsible for the procurement and financial reporting as well. Monthly staff meeting, financial reviews and proposed budget reviews are also part of my JDs. I have healthy professional relationships with my senior mangement, colleagues from diferent line departments and I regularly conduct visits to different ongoing trainings, field areas of implementation, provide inputs, suggestions and feedbacks to our implementing partners as well.
As a office incharge, I am leading the security focal group of Sindh office as well. We conduct monthly meetings, and report the updates to our head of Security.
