Abdul Majeed is a program management specialist having academic background in public policy and worked as the U.S. Department of State Country Program Manager for Pakistan for more than a decade while managing a multi-million dollar portfolio designing and supervising Department of State Public Diplomacy Programs under the Public Affairs Section at the U.S. Embassy in Pakistan.
As a visiting faculty member teaching Public Policy to undergraduate students enrolled at the Bachelor of Science at the Department of Governance and Public Policy.

Abdul Majeed has been the Country Manager for the United States, Department of State\'s English Language Programs in Pakistan, focused on improving the educational collaboration between the United States in Pakistan through English Language programs for teachers and learners of English. Programs ranged from after-school programs for youth, international exchanges and in-country blended and face-to-face teacher training programs, and also online professional development initiatives offered mostly through U.S. based institutions and resources.
Majeed was responsible for the strategic planning, implementation of the capacity building educational programs through institutional support from Pakistani organizations such as the Ministry of Education, Higher Education Commission, and the provincial and regional federal institutions. These programs have been the key component of U.S. Government Public Diplomacy efforts in Pakistan, providing lasting professional, educational, and personal opportunities for Pakistani program participants, as well as creating valuable opportunities for the U.S. Mission to engage key local audiences. These programs assisted both Pakistan and the U.S. in their public diplomacy goals, such as strengthen people-to-people ties between the two countries through shared information, experiences, exchanges, and/or expertise, and strengthen local institutions to build long-term, self- sustaining relationships and institutional linkages between U.S. and Pakistani organizations, including capacity building support for Pakistani organizations and educational institutions as needed.
Majeed designed and managed the following programs in Pakistan:
Teaching Excellence and Achievement (TEA) Program: The TEA Program provides outstanding in- service Pakistani secondary school teachers of English Language with a six-week academic program at a University in United States. https://tea.org.pk/

English Access Microscholarship Program. Also known as the \'Access Program\' aiming to improve the socio-economic outlook for underprivileged youth. The flagship two-year after-school English Access Microscholarship Program is present in more than 87 countries. with Pakistan having the world\'s

English Language Specialist Program: U.S. based educational \'Specialists\' visited Pakistan to implement in-person in-country teacher training, curriculum reform, leadership programs in collaboration with Higher Education Commission and various educational institutions. University Linkage Programs: Muti-year linkages were formed between Pakistani and U.S. universities to provide mutually beneficial capacity building opportunities for Pakistani and the U.S. universities Funded by one million USD grant for Public Diplomacy Programs for Afghanistan and Pakistan, the University of North Texas (UNT)- National University of Modern Languages (NUML) Partnership has been a three year cooperative agreement, with the primary aim of working in partnership with the English department of NUML. Both institutions worked together to enhance capabilities of NUML English department in the following five areas:
• Faculty development and collaborative research
• Curriculum development mentoring, including introduction to state-of-the-art methodologies
• Research materials, journals, and publications
• Graduate student training and research
• Establishment of a Writing Resource Center
HEC-US Embassy Under-graduate Curriculum Reform Project: Working with Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission, Postsecondary Education Reform Unit (PERU) in direct collaboration with Dr Zulfiqar Gilani, Program Specialist Academics, PERU for HEC Undergraduate Education Policy 2020, a team of three U.S. curriculum specialists worked to revamp English mandatory courses for under-graduate level. 25 master-trainers from Pakistan participated in a two-week U.S. Exchange program held at the The American English Institute (AEI) is the English language program for the University of Oregon (UO) in Eugene, Oregon.
Madrassa Teacher Training Program: Madrassa teacher training program aimed at i) improving teacher’s own English skills ii) improving their ability of teaching English through series of U.S. resource person led workshops. These training programs were implemented by International Islamic University, READ Foundation, and Peace and Education Foundation.
Pakistan Teachers of English to the Speakers of other Languages (Pak-TESOL): U.S. Embassy assisted the formation of a community of Pakistani ELT experts to form the Pak-TESOL on the format of TESOL international Renowned Senior English Language Specialist Jodi Crandall was invited to Pakistan to lead the five-day workshop to guide and assist representatives from around the country to initiate the process of formally launch the teacher’s association. A five-year action plan was approved and launched in late 2019.
Professional Development for Novice English Teachers (PDNET) is a week-long intensive residential training for novice and prospective English language teachers from across Pakistan. Training module is developed on international standards and will be led by international trainers. Upon completion of the course, participants become eligible to receive small grants to conduct follow-up activities in their respective regions.
The English Works! Program is an intensive 240-hour English and employability skills development course for un-employed and under-employed 17 – 25 year-old Pakistanis. This six-month program is tailored to Pakistan’s vocational landscape and courses are offered virtually and/or in-person. Over 3,700 deserving youth from underserved communities have graduated from the program.
Taught undergraduate and graduate level English compulsory classes as a lecturer in English at this degree college in Islamabad.
At the English Department, Faculty of Social Sciences at Air University English Language Courses are offered in the evening. I have been teaching here with a team of best English language teachers. I am assigned with teaching \'Functional English\' course. This course is meant for intermediate/upperintermediate level learners who are looking for improvement in their English language skills, therefore most of our students are diplomats from different embassies of non English speaking countries as well as Pakistani working professionals.
Aug 2006 - Jan 2010 (3 years 6 months) Worked as the administrative head and Instructor at the English Access Microscholarship Program in Rawalpindi run by the US Embassy, Islamabad. This program is an initiative of US Department of State and is running in 87 countries worldwide. It is an after school hours English Language teaching program intended for the underprivileged non elite students who cannot afford English Medium instruction. My team of instructors provides ten hours weekly English tuition to these students at our Access Center
