ABOUT POSITION
SM Legal manages Commercial, Civil and Criminal Litigation and formulates strategies to conform to Legal requirements, coordinate with region regarding court proceedings and communicate the status of cases. Furthermore, prepares legal report and provides legal advice on handling litigation involving the company.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for Commercial, Civil and Criminal Litigation before Supreme Court, High Court, District Courts and NIRC
- Handling Wafaqi Mohtasib issues
- Examining the cases and identifies key legal issues
- Profiling of similar or related cases
- Preparing legal correspondence
- Vetting the petition's/written statements etc
- Assessing the need for the role of outside counsel
- Arranging information required by external lawyers and ensuring attendance at the courts of the company’s officials, if required in consultation with GM (Litigation)
- Dealing with internal and external auditors
- Formulating strategy according to the company policies and procedures to conform to legal requirements that are agreed upon by the management, in house legal department and the outside counsel
- Liaising with regions regarding progress of cases
- Checking the authenticity and discrepancies of the cases from the regions
- Providing legal advice on current ongoing litigation and other legal matters involving the company
- Keeping higher management fully informed of all new developments in corporate legal matters and ensuring all levels of management informed of applicable new laws and of the progress and results of court cases all over the country.
- Ensuring compliance with budgets, targets, and deadlines through the implementation of cost-efficient controls
- Ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards
- Undertaking performance management
- Monitoring and evaluating reporting employees
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Qualification
- LLB from a recognized local/foreign university preferably having LLM from a national or foreign recognized university
- Prior in-house legal experience
Experience:
- Around 7 years experience in litigation
