Manager – Reporting to Head of Service Delivery, Commercial & Marketing Technology

The Role

The Associate Director, Data Analytics & Visualization will oversee the development of two distinct but cooperative teams – Data Warehouse and Data Analytics – each with their own respective lead.

The role of the Data Warehouse team being to work with platform teams throughout the business. They will ingest, transform, and prepare data for reporting and analysis across a wide range of use cases. The team will utilize modern serverless/cloud architectural strategies to drive efficiency and resilience. The team will partner with the Data Analytics team in order to prepare data that provides the details and insights required by the business to drive critical decision making.

The role of the Data Analytics team is to partner with both the business and the Data Warehouse team to design analysis and reports that surface meaningful insights for our business partners. They will leverage mature knowledge of data analytics to produce actionable reports and metrics. They will also maintain the Tableau server environment used to house these reports. They will provide governance around this platform in order to make it available to the business as a shared resource.

The incumbent will play a hands-on role in maturing and driving innovation in both these towers

Responsibilities

  • Lead a growing, global team of engineers
  • Provide managerial support to the team
  • Utilize a consultative approach to identify, drive, and deliver essential intelligence
  • Own the development competency – productivity as well as skill and process maturation
  • Own the realization of both product and technology roadmaps for both teams
  • Shepherd the work within the SAFe Agile framework
  • Retain a hands-on approach to solving difficult business and technical challenges with the team
  • Provide leadership to both teams and the business
  • Work closely with the business to understand both opportunities and requirements
  • Define and drive development efforts working collaboratively with other platform leads, key stakeholders, and strategic vendors
  • Stay abreast of new technologies and methodologies
  • Evaluate technology and vendor strategies to meet future needs in the organization.
  • Comply with relevant policies, testing and certifying the adequacy and effectiveness of security and QA controls on a regular basis.
  • Provide status updates and participate in regular meetings with senior leadership
  • Travel as needed to meet with team members, stakeholders, and senior management

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science and/or 8+ years of relevant experience in application development
  • 8+ years of Technology experience
  • Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in a leadership role (preferably as a people manager)
  • Demonstrable hands on experience in cloud technologies (AWS preferred but not required)
  • Strong RDBMS development background
  • Current hands-on experience developing in a modern technology stack
  • Experience writing and evaluating technical and functional requirements
  • Experience partnering with Information Security in the design of sound solutions and processes
  • A demonstrated record of leading, motivating, and mentoring a team of engineers
  • Able to influence stakeholders on complex technical issues
  • Ability to communicate and build relationships with stakeholders across the business
  • Love for learning and applying new technologies to improve business outcomes

Nice to Haves:

The following are not required but would be useful to have.

  • Experience in Product Management and/or Ownership
  • Experience in designing and driving product roadmaps
  • Experience in supporting a large BI platform
  • Experience in design, implementing, and maintain security governance for data privacy
  • Experience with serverless technologies
  • Experience leading global teams
