Front-end development: HTML, CSS, Javascript
PHP - General programming skills from javascript (arrays, loops, functions, etc.) and the syntax of php requires.
Hosting - Be able to setup and manage hosting. Understand security needs, site speed requirements, and be prepared to give recommendations with a strong point of view.
Database management - Writing SQL queries isn’t really required but you do need to know how to use phpMyAdmin to edit, import and delete data.
Be friendly. And patient.
For building websites is never just about developed a perfect website. (that’s awful right?) You must understand all of the roles that go into building a successful website:

Creative (Direction, Design, Photo, Video, Copywriting, etc.)

Basic SEO
Basic Analytics
Testing
Reporting
Optimization
