A US based company in Islamabad is currently looking for an experienced (Mid/Senior-Level) top-notch SQL DBA/DB Developer. Primary duties for this position include maintaining SQL Server (2012-2019) databases and associated Microsoft SQL Server components such as SSIS, & SSRS. Tasks include monitoring, analyzing, and tuning database along with query tuning. Powershell scripting to manage servers in the environment. This includes proven track record of writing SQL DDL and DML, ability to manage database of huge size with high frequency data writes, proper database parititioning handling and related responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor SQL Server instances (In VM, Managed Instance or SQL Azure)
- Install and configure SQL Server instances (Database Engine, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS)
- Performant Query/Schema designing for databases with huge volume of data
- Design, deploy and monitor maintenance plans
- Proficient with High Availability technologies (clustering, availability groups)
- Ability to Recover Databases with minimal data loss in case of disaster
- Manage and monitor SSIS, SSRS and SSAS instances
- Define Proper database table partitioning
- Monitor and Tune Database Performance
- Control Security Access and Permissions
- Diagnose and Troubleshoot SQL Server Errors
- Create Automation for Applicable Database Tasks
- Write and Maintain Documentation
- Adheres to internal standards, policies and procedures
- Performs other duties as assigned
Key Competencies
· You should be self-motivated and goal-orientated; with an ability to work individually as well as being able to collaborate with a wider remote team. We are looking for a self starter who diagnoses and starts working on issue without being explicityly pushed.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in information technology or computer science
- Minimum 6+ years as a SQL Server Database development experience including performance troubleshooting and improvement
- A demonstrable track record of writing and optimizing SQL queries and stored procedures
- Experience with MS SQL with Always On Availability Groups
- Experience with data modeling, T-SQL, DB maintenance.
- Development experience in .NET a plus
- Experience with any reporting tools
- Strong ability to assist with the design and implementation of changes
Essential skills and experience
- Analytical: Monitor database and server performance and evaluate complex information coming from a variety of sources
- Experienced in Database Performance, Maintenance and Development to perform the following:
- Database management including backups, recovery and maintenance
- Database management for export, import and mass data loads
- Analyzes and generation of all tables and index statistics
- Monitoring and resolving data lock issues
- Check all statistics related to memory, locks, I/O, database response time, wait events, top
- sessions and background processes
- On-Line Transaction Processing (OLTP) to capture, validate and store large amounts of
- transactions
- Create indexes to achieve critical dataset response time for time sensitive reports
- High Communicator: Must communicate effectively with managers, developers, and other workers in a collaborative environment
- Detail-oriented: working with a database requires the administrator to have an understanding of complex systems, and how a minor error can cause major problems
- Problem-solver: when problems come up, administrators must troubleshoot them and resolve the problems
- Innovator: need to look ahead to see database technologies that are emerging and be a benefit to the current environment
