The Research Specialist reports to the Project Manager. The Research Specialist collaborates with Project Management Unit (PMU) and other team members including the staff of Project Development Unit (PDU) to support and lend guidance to perform his role as well for contributing to PDU work

S/he collaborates with Managing Director AAN and senior management to provide strategic input and guidance on all research projects, directly contributing to or managing: research goals, planning, design, analysis, reporting, distribution, and training.

The Specialist should be a diligent researcher and writer with the ability to quickly develop a deep knowledge of development sector, sub sectors particularly Health, Nutriition, Child Rights/Protection and regional issues and priorities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & TASKS

(Duties occupy a major portion of time & importance in the job)

·         Plan, coordinate and execute assigned research project tasks.

·         Supervise team on a daily and weekly basis to complete research projects within deadlines.

·         Track project progress periodically and report the same to management.

·         Identify areas of improvements and develop new methodologies to meet milestones.

·         Follow and enforce state and federal regulations of the respective country under MCE05.

·         Interact with accounting department in processing payments.

·         Stay abreast with the latest developments in research tools and techniques.

·         Analyze and resolve research issues promptly and accurately.

·         Work with management in the preparation of project budget and schedule.

·         Monitor and control expenses within the allotted budget.

·         Perform cost negotiation and finance and schedule management activities.

·         Coordinate with management in determining research priorities & developing research roadmap.

·         Identify key challenges and develop appropriate solutions.

·         Ensure that research deliverables meet quality standards and business requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE SKILL REQUIRED (Minimum education & experience required)

·         University degree required; advanced degree (Sociology, Public Health, Management) preferred.

·         A minimum of 07 years of research/development experience, 3 to 5 years directly overseeing research planning, statistical analysis and reporting.

·         Demonstrated expertise participating in the literature review, research design, preparing research tools, developing analysis plan (quantitative and qualitative), sampling frame, field work planning and monitoring, developing and executing quality assurance measures, undertaking interviews and group discussions, coordination with stakeholders, and distribution of operationalized marketing research for targeted constituencies.

·         Data management, interpretation/triangulation and analytical skills, including the ability to distil useful findings from the available primary and secondary data, relating findings to external factors and context.

·         Excellent written and oral communication skills including proven ability to present ideas and concepts effectively and persuasively in group or workshop settings.

·         Excellent project management skills including setting priorities and performing multiple tasks.

·         Well organized, result-oriented while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality of deliverables.

·         Ability to effectively use, social media, Microsoft Office; Google Docs etc.

·         Understanding/experience in designing, implementing and evaluating behaviours change and community engagement programmes/activities

·         Excellent training skills;

·         Past track-record of project evaluation or research

·         Ability to analyze community perceptions and develop indicators and relevant questions
