Core Responsibilities & Duties:
- Design and build applications for the Android platform.
- Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
- Help maintain code quality and standards.
- Write clean and reusable bits of code with high readability.
- Unit-test code for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and general reliability.
- Create compelling device specific user interfaces and experiences.
- Work along with web developers to design and maintain a robust API framework.
Skills:
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
- Understanding of Google’s Android design principles and interface guidelines.
- Strong knowledge of Android SDK, different versions of Android, and how to deal with different screen sizes.
- Strong knowledge of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices.
- Strong knowledge of Gradle build system.
- Deep understanding of activity and fragment lifecycles.
- Proficient with Kotlin, Java and Android Studio.
- Experience with offline storage, threading, and performance tuning.
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs.
- Familiarity with cloud message APIs and push notifications.
- Familiarity with the use of device sensors, such as gyroscopes and accelerometers.
- Familiarity with open-source Android ecosystem, 3rd party library integration and customization.
- Deep knowledge of design patterns.
- Experience with MVVM pattern.
- Familiarity with Rx framework and observer pattern.
- Understanding of object oriented, functional and reactive programming.
- Identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs.
- Experience with performance and memory tuning tools.
- Knack for benchmarking and optimization.
- Proficient understanding of code versioning tools.
- Knowledge of other web technologies and UI/UX standards is a plus.
