Purpose of the role:

Lead in the identification and implementation of health interventions in line with the technical strategy by ensuring technical coherence of the interventions; ensure appropriate skills and capacity for quality programming; develop partnerships at country level with key stakeholders in health. The position will support the strengthening of Nutrition and health department and to create guidelines in performing its functions on day to day basis. The staff member will visit stakeholders in health and psychosocial sectors, meet donors, seek funding opportunities and represent Action Against Hunger at various forums.  This position will also support country and provincial level planning with regards to project interventions as well as supporting the supervision of the intervention to assure quality delivery of program and services supported.

The position is expected to spend 50% time in the field.

Individual accountabilities

  • Identify strategic thematic areas for interventions related to health (Maternal Neonatal Child Health, Family Planning, Mother & Child Care Practices especially at inpatient therapeutic centers, Mental Health Psychosocial Support, Early Childhood Development, Hygiene & Social Safety)
  • Provide technical and operational program quality oversight on health related need assessments, surveys and implementation of interventions 
  • Take lead in implementation of relevant Strategic Objectives (including Adolescents, Maternal & Child Health and Mental Health, Social Safety nets)
  • Coordinate with ACF HQ Advisors for technical matters related to Health ( including psychosocial aspects, Care Practices & Early Childhood development )
  • Build capacities of relevant staff in health related projects
  • Develop the job description and take lead in the recruitment of Health & Psychosocial staff
