OVERVIEW OF POSITION

This position is part of the Action Against Hunger team of the EU-funded Programme for Improved Nutrition in Sindh (PINS), nutrition specific project covering 10 districts of Sindh as per the Accelerated Action Plan for Malnutrition and Stunting in Sindh. The PINS programme is implemented in collaboration with partner organizations that include RSPN, PPHI and Concern Worldwide and a range of government departments.

This position will support program implementation and partnerships by providing technical input on nutrition programs. The role will comprise of capacity building, coordination, and representation as explained under the following objectives.

OBJECTIVES

Objective 1

To provide technical backstopping and ensure smooth implementation of program activities, under the leader ship of Technical Coordinator.

Tasks & responsibilities

·         Review international and national guidelines (such as CMAM, IYCF, HSS, etc.) and support alignment of program implementation with them.

·         To facilitate alignment of PINS ER 2 and Accelerated Action Plan through feedback on strategies and engaging government departments.

·         To lead all capacity building activities in the project, including need based capacity building support when requested by AAP Task Force or any other government department.

·         To support program and monitoring by field visits and development of relevant tools, indicators and MOVs.

·         Maintenance of the supply chain for treatment and outreach services in the project.

·         Timely outsource any support required for implementation of PINS program.

·         Recruit, mentor and manage human resource within the technical team.

Objective 2

To represent Action Against Hunger and PINS nutrition specific at relevant forums.

Tasks & responsibilities

·         To ensure that PINS nutrition specific component is well represented on various forums, including Technical Working Group and other forums organized by the AAP Task Force, the Health Department and the Planning and Development Department.  

·         To communicate and provide summary of any anticipated change in the policies of government and take adaptive measures for PINS ER2. 

·         Share minutes and action points (with follow up) in relation to decisions made through coordination between PINS ER 2 and relevant government departments and partner organizations.  

·         Prepare and present updates/briefings of the programme where and when required

Objective 3

To facilitate partnership of PINS programme with partners and relevant government departments on technical matters.

Tasks & responsibilities

·          Proactively engage with representatives of PINS partner organizations and relevant government departments to develop understanding and ensure steady flow of information on technical matters.

·          To support seconded staff and capacity building of relevant partner and government staff.

·          Support in organizing workshops/dissemination events of PINS program.

·          Develop and compile reports as required.

·          Facilitate signing and adherence to MOUs and partnership documentations between Action Against Hunger, PINS Partners and Government bodies.

Objective 4 (Gender)

To ensure inclusion across programming and within/by the team.

Tasks & responsibilities

·          To support mission level qualification for gender marker;

·          Ensure inclusion within recruitment, training and promotion;

·          Ensure inclusion within programme planning, implementation and reporting;

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Mandatory

·              Minimum masters level degree in relevant field of health or nutrition.

·              Minimum 8 years of relevant experience.

·         Good written and verbal communication in English;

·         Nutrition specific or public health qualification;

·         Experience working in nutrition specific or public health roles;

·         Strong interpersonal skills

·         Computer literate, knowledge of MS Word and Excel required

·         Experience working in Sindh

Preference

·         Sindhi language skills;

·         Experience within a large national or international organization;

·         Experience working in development projects

·         Experience working closely with Government of Sindh.
