Job Description

Position will be Sanghar base warehouse


  • Two security guards are to be on duty at night times. One is to be located in the security booth (if provided) and the other is to be located inside the entrance gate to the compound;
  • Guards are not to sleep whilst on duty;
  • Guards are to be dressed in uniforms when on duty and to have security identification cards visible (if issued);
  • Guards are responsible to ensure that vehicles are not parked across the EMPLOYER entrances or vehicle gates. They are to ensure that both EMPLOYER and visitors’ vehicles are parked orderly in their designated areas;
  • Guards are to accompany the guest to the requested person to see and visitors shall never be allowed to be left alone within EMPLOYER premises;
  • Guards are to report the loss of uniforms, identification cards and security related equipment to the Logistics Department / Administration.
  •  the guard is to be found responsible for the loss of material or a visitor left without surveillance, a warning may be issued.

General – Specific for Night Duty:

  • Gates are to be locked at curfew or at designated time determined by the Liaison Officer or Logistics Officer.
  • At this time, the guards are to control the compound, ensuring that no items are left in the security booth;
  • Guards are not to sleep whilst on duty and are to remain alert;
  • Guards are to conduct regular checks of the perimeter fencing within the compound, every hour;
  • Guards are to ensure that where applicable, EMPLOYER vehicles are parked inside the compound;
  • Guards are to ensure that where applicable, perimeter security lighting is switched on at last light;
  • Guards are responsible for their own equipment and should request additional materials or consumables (batteries, tea bags…) to the Liaison Officer, who will issue an Order Form to Logistics Department accordingly.

Visitor Access:

  • The guard is to meet the visitor and quickly and politely ascertains the reason for visit. The following information is to be obtained:
  • The name of visitor and which organization she/he is from,
  • Who the visitor wants to meet with,
  • Purpose and duration of the visit.
  • The guard is to check the identification of the visitor and to instruct him/her to complete their details in the visitor’s book.
  • A visitor’s card is to be provided for any visitor. During this time, the person to be visited is to be notified in advance to confirm authorization for the visit.
  • Once confirmation is given, the visitor is to be escorted into the compound to the relevant office;
  • At the end of the visit, the visitor will be escorted back to the entrance gate under responsibility of the guards (this is the responsibility of the EMPLOYER officer visited).
  • He/She is to sign out of the visitor’s book and return the pass in exchange of his/her personal document.

Vehicle Inspections:

  • All non-EMPLOYER vehicles entering an EMPLOYER compound are to be inspected by the guards for improvised explosive devices (IED);
  • EMPLOYER vehicles parked outside of the compound overnight are to be inspected first thing in the morning fro IED and signs of theft or sabotage.
  • Suspicious vehicles parked next to any EMPLOYER compound should not be allowed and reported immediately to the Liaison Officer.


An emergency situation can include fire, attempted break in to an EMPLOYER compound, or armed people attempting to gain entry to an EMPLOYER compound. Emergency contact details must be available and updated in the guard’s booth at all times.


 In the event of a fire, guards are to:

  • Inform the Liaison Officer or any EMPLOYER Senior national or International staff member;
  • Inform the fire Department and the Local Police Office;
  • Secure the evacuation of all EMPLOYER staff and visitors in the premises;
  • Cut the power to the building and close all office doors and windows where safe and applicable;
  • Ensure proper use of the extinguishers in the base and support the Logistics Team to protect in priority: people, assets and vehicles;
  • Attempt to contain the fire and wait further instructions;

Attempted Break In

In the event of an attempted break in, guards are to:

  • Inform the Liaison/Security Officer or any EMPLOYER Senior national or International staff member;
  • Inform the Local Police Office;
  • Where possible, detain the person and hold until the local authorities arrive to arrest or question him;

Armed Attack

In the event of an armed attack or armed person attempting to gain entry to an EMPLOYER compound, guards are to:

  •  EMPLOYER is commitment to zero tolerance to all forms of violence against children, beneficiaries and staff.
  •  EMPLOYER is equal opportunity employers.
