Review and strengthen current career awareness and guidance programmes of the Careers and Scholarship (C&S) Department to enhance its effectiveness and outreach
Develop new and innovative programme models to enrich the portfolio of programmes and services offered by the C&S Department
Lead the design and implementation of various career guidance and dissemination initiatives undertaken by AKESP
Provide technical support to the Councils and the Education Boards in in developing and implementing contextually relevant career advisory programmes
Identify potential opportunities and lead initiatives where AKES,P and Councils/REBs/LEBs can collaborate for development and delivery of the programmes;
Provide support to the HOD in strengthening the scholarships programme and improve its outreach and effectiveness;
Support department to plan, organise and implement scholarship awareness programmes in AKES premier schools and communities
Identify potential partners/external service providers across Pakistan for collaboration in the areas of mutual interest
Monitor access, quality and effectiveness of career programmes
Prepare quarterly and yearly reports of career initiatives to be shared with the board and other stakeholders
Participate in group meetings of REBs and/or Councils and/or other partner institutions for career programmes, document discussions and corresponding action plan
Work closely with the HoD and Sr. Finance Officer to develop programmatic and operational budgets for career initiatives
Aga Khan Education Service, Pakistan (AKES,P) is a network of educational institutions that combines the operation of 159 schools and 5 hostels with the management of programmes to enhance the quality of teachers, academic resources and learning environments in Pakistan through community partnerships and long-term interventions. It is one of the largest third-sector networks of educational institutions in Pakistan and part of an international network of over 200 schools spread in 8 countries of the world under the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). Reaching out to the remotest areas of the country, AKES,P has been providing quality education in the region for the past 110 years. It is a direct provider of education for nearly 36,000 students from pre-primary to higher secondary levels and facilitates access to higher education through the provision of scholarships, hostels and other educational support services.With more than 2,000 employees, of whom over 1,500 areteachers, AKES,P is also supported by over 2,000 volunteers. In Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral, the first AKES,P schools were setup in the 1940s; since then they have contributed significantly toincreasing the literacy rates and social development in theremote, mountainous, harsh and ecologically fragile regions ofNorthern Pakistan. AKES,P currently operates 151 schools inGilgit-Baltistan and Chitral, providing education to over 27,000students, of which 54% are girls. Through these efforts, AKES,Pis continuing to play a critical role in women’s development inthe region. In the Southern Region, AKES,P operates four schools in Karachi,three in Hyderabad and rural Sindh and one in Hafizabad,Punjab, with over 8,900 students. All AKES,P schools follow theNational Curriculum but place special emphasis on the teachingof English, Mathematics, Science and the increasing use ofInformation and Communication Technologies (ICT).
