Agay Barho is seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Head of Department Workshop to oversee and manage all aspects of workshop and fleet maintenance operations. This position demands a strong leadership presence, technical expertise, and strategic oversight to ensure maximum vehicle availability and operational efficiency. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing robust preventive and corrective maintenance systems, managing workshop productivity, and ensuring strict safety compliance. With a focus on commercial vehicle maintenance including diesel, hybrid, and electric buses, this role requires a seasoned professional who can lead a technically skilled team to meet stringent operational goals and cost-effectiveness.
The ideal candidate will bring 12 years of relevant experience in workshop operations, including in transport, logistics, or commercial vehicle sectors. This role involves close collaboration with senior management to drive efficiency in fleet maintenance, optimize resource utilization, and maintain compliance with organizational and regulatory standards. Although this role does not involve managing a team, the individual will be pivotal in coordinating technical staff and ensuring the alignment of workshop activities with company objectives and industry best practices.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily workshop operations focusing on preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance to maximize fleet availability.
- Develop, implement, and monitor maintenance plans to ensure minimal vehicle downtime and optimized repair turnaround time.
- Manage maintenance schedules, vehicle inspections, diagnostics, and repair activities ensuring effective use of workshop equipment and resources.
- Design and apply preventive maintenance programs specific to buses and commercial vehicles to enhance fleet reliability.
- Conduct timely troubleshooting and technical fault resolution to maintain vehicle performance standards.
- Maintain comprehensive maintenance records, service histories, and technical documentation aligned with OEM standards and company policies.
- Coordinate with procurement and vendors to ensure timely availability of critical spare parts and technical services, controlling inventory costs effectively.
- Evaluate vendor performance to guarantee quality standards and negotiate terms to optimize service delivery and costs.
- Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations conducting regular safety audits and enforcing safety protocols within the workshop environment.
- Compile and present regular operational reports including maintenance KPIs, cost analyses, and downtime statistics to senior management.
- Promote a safety-oriented culture and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at raising workshop operational standards.
- Collaborate with technical teams to facilitate product retrofitting or upgrades based on vehicle performance monitoring and industry developments.
- Support decision-making processes with clear and practical solutions to operational challenges and cost optimization.
