The UK Road Freight Coordinator serves as a critical link between transport drivers and clients, overseeing and optimizing freight movements across routes in the UK. This role demands proactive communication to resolve operational challenges, maintain accurate transport records, and ensure timely delivery performance. Candidates must demonstrate expertise in freight dispatching, effective use of transport management systems, and strong command of relevant digital tools including Excel, Outlook, and Google Workspace. Working remotely, the coordinator ensures seamless transport execution aligned with company delivery standards and customer satisfaction objectives.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily road freight transport and logistics operations within the UK from a remote work setup.
- Develop optimized route plans and assign freight loads to drivers based on delivery requirements and vehicle availability.
- Manage transport bookings and freight exchanges effectively on platforms such as Haulage Exchange or equivalent systems.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers and clients to communicate scheduling, load details, and operational updates.
- Monitor freight deliveries in real time to identify and promptly address any logistical issues or delays.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate transport and delivery records in transport management systems (TMS).
- Collaborate closely with clients to update shipment statuses, confirm delivery schedules, and resolve any service concerns.
- Utilize digital tools including Excel spreadsheets, email correspondence through Outlook, and Google Workspace applications to streamline workflows and document management.
- Work independently to oversee daily transport operations while ensuring compliance with UK road freight regulations and company policies.
- Continuously evaluate transport operations to identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains.
- Prepare periodic reports detailing transport activities, delivery performance, and operational challenges for management review.
- Ensure stable remote work infrastructure including reliable internet connectivity to maintain uninterrupted operational communication and data management.
