Responsibilities:
- Sourcing of raw materials and equipment.
- Getting prices for all the company's raw materials and other import items from foreign principals on a routine basis.
- Opening of L/Cs and follow up with the bank.
- Keeping track of Shipment and mainitaing a record of all the consignents that are bound to reach Karachi.
- Monitor record, analyses and report on activities, trends, results and recommendations relating to import activities, to the Managing Director on periodical basis.
- Handle technical details relating to national/ international transportation, customs regulations and negotiating with custom clearing agents including freight forwarding companies.
- Efficiently evaluate the costs of transportation, services and inventory within any budget or distribution strategy including sales tax calculation, processing, filling and claims.
- Advance level knowledge of national and international import/export legislation and must be able to effectively troubleshoot any issues that may arise in international freight transportation.
- Hands on experience of custom clearance process from sea, customs documentation, custom exemptions, custom negotiation, managing and driving custom clearing agents.
- Maintain records for accounting purposes in accordance with company procedures, including the checking of all invoices and shipping manifests for conformity to tariff and Customs regulations
- Liaise with other departments in order to establish and maintain effective and relevant /import activities and support in relation to the organization's sales, purchasing, materials management, production and overall operating functions.
- Prepare reports for all import activities and recommend changes if required.
- Monitor product import process to ensure compliance with regulatory or legal requirements.
- Build relationships with logistics mediators and work closely with people involved in logistics to ensure the protection of import items in transit.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with business systems or processes, such as customer sales, order management, accounting, and shipping.
- Direct inbound logistic operations, such as transportation or warehouse activities, safety performance, or logistics quality management.
- Abreast of changes in custom duties tariff and ensuring goods clearance in shortest, cheapest way to meet targets and avoid delays, penalties and demurrages.
- Logistics planning of goods and materials to reach destination sites within Pakistan. Transportation mode negotiation and arrangements, GRNs, ensuring in time delivery of goods.
- Manage all staff reporting to the position so as to effectively recruit, train, evaluate, motivate, delegate and monitor their activities.
- Entertaining and giving presentations to company's foreign suppliers if required.
