Al Sawaid Manpower is seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Laboratory Technician specialized in ICP-MS to join their mining laboratory located in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in chemistry, with 3 to 5 years of direct experience operating ICP-MS equipment and a solid understanding of laboratory quality assurance and quality control procedures. This role requires a detail-oriented professional who can maintain analytical equipment, ensure regulatory compliance, and contribute to effective laboratory operations while adhering to safety standards. The position demands good English communication abilities and the flexibility to work in shifts.
The Senior Laboratory Technician will perform critical analytical tasks involving inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry and play an essential role in troubleshooting equipment and maintaining laboratory instruments. This position does not involve managing a team but requires close collaboration with laboratory colleagues to meet project deadlines and support overall laboratory productivity. The candidate must be proficient in laboratory information management systems to accurately record and report analytical data in compliance with established protocols and standards.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain ICP-MS instruments to perform elemental and isotopic analysis with high accuracy and precision.
- Conduct routine calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of analytical equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
- Implement and adhere to laboratory safety protocols and regulatory compliance requirements to create a safe working environment.
- Perform quality control and quality assurance checks on analytical data, ensuring adherence to established methods and laboratory standards.
- Prepare samples and reagents following standardized procedures, ensuring consistency and reliability in analytical results.
- Utilize Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) to record, track, and report analytical data accurately and efficiently.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff to optimize workflows and support continuous improvement initiatives within the laboratory.
- Assist in the development and validation of new analytical methods related to ICP-MS applications in mining and metallurgical sample testing.
- Maintain detailed records of laboratory activities, including equipment maintenance logs, calibration data, and analytical results.
- Participate in shift work schedules to ensure continuous laboratory operation and timely completion of testing assignments.
