Al Shifa Trust Eye Hospital is seeking a dedicated Assistant Manager Procurement Medical to oversee and enhance the procurement process for medical supplies and devices within the hospital. This role is vital in ensuring that the hospital has a consistent and cost-effective supply of critical medical products while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will possess a Pharm-D or relevant pharmaceutical degree and have significant experience in procurement within the healthcare or pharmaceutical sectors. They must be comfortable working in fast-paced environments where timely acquisition of life-saving inventory is essential.
The Assistant Manager will lead a small team of two, focusing on optimizing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and managing inventory to support hospital operations smoothly. The candidate must demonstrate strong commercial negotiation skills and be proficient in hospital ERP and procurement IT systems. This leadership position requires analytical thinking, resilience under pressure, and the ability to implement cost-reduction strategies. Delivering quality procurement services, ensuring vendor qualification, and adhering to regulatory compliance will be key responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a procurement team of two to effectively handle medical procurement activities, ensuring smooth team collaboration and performance.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable and high-quality medical supply chains.
- Conduct thorough contract negotiations with vendors to achieve optimum terms, pricing, and service agreements.
- Oversee medical device procurement and ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and hospital policies.
- Perform detailed spend analysis to identify opportunities for cost savings and implement strategies to reduce procurement expenses while maintaining quality standards.
- Manage inventory control, including demand forecasting and inventory management, to maintain adequate stock levels and avoid shortages or overstock situations.
- Utilize hospital ERP and purchase order management software to process, track, and manage purchase orders efficiently and accurately.
- Conduct vendor qualification processes to ensure that suppliers meet stringent quality and compliance criteria.
- Oversee purchase order processing and ensure timely approvals and delivery schedules to meet critical operational needs.
- Collaborate with clinical and operational teams to anticipate procurement needs aligned with hospital activities and patient care requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends, medical device technologies, and regulatory changes affecting procurement policies.
- Report on procurement performance metrics, including cost savings, supplier performance, and inventory turnover, to senior management.
- Ensure resilience and adaptability to manage procurement priorities effectively under high-pressure conditions related to life-saving inventory deadlines.
