Al Shifa Trust Eye Hospital is seeking a dedicated CSSD Technician to join our team, responsible for the effective sterilization and maintenance of medical instruments critical to safe clinical operations. The ideal candidate has at least two years of relevant experience in a Central Sterile Services Department or Operating Theater setting, coupled with a strong technical diploma in Operation Theater Technology or Sterile Processing. This role demands a detail-oriented professional who adheres strictly to infection control protocols, ensures proper equipment maintenance, and manages inventory responsibly to support the hospital's commitment to patient safety and clinical hygiene.
In this position, the CSSD Technician will manage a small team and collaborate closely with clinical staff to uphold sterilization standards. The role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to follow precise instructions, and a pleasant, cooperative attitude to integrate smoothly into the healthcare team. Certification in Basic Life Support or Advanced Life Support is mandatory, reflecting the critical nature of the responsibilities involved in this role.
Responsibilities
- Perform sterilization processes using chemical and physical sterilization techniques to ensure all medical instruments and equipment are safe for use in clinical settings.
- Maintain and operate sterilization equipment, routinely inspecting and performing preventative maintenance to prevent operation failures.
- Manage inventory of sterilized instruments and materials, ensuring availability, proper storage, and compliance with hospital protocols.
- Validate sterilization processes by conducting biological, chemical, and mechanical monitoring tests according to established guidelines.
- Strictly adhere to infection control and safety protocols, minimizing contamination risks and maintaining a sterile environment within the department.
- Handle medical instruments carefully, including cleaning, inspecting, assembly, and packaging before sterilization to ensure quality and safety standards are met.
- Effectively communicate and coordinate with clinical and surgical teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of sterile instruments required for medical procedures.
- Supervise and provide guidance to a team member, fostering teamwork and ensuring consistent adherence to department policies and procedures.
- Document work activities accurately, maintaining clear records of sterilization cycles, maintenance logs, and inventory control for regulatory compliance.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with advances in sterilization technology and infection control practices.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to workplace hygiene and teamwork, contributing positively to the hospitals clinical environment.
