Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor hospital waste management programs to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
- Supervise and provide leadership to a team of 20 waste management personnel, including training, scheduling, and performance evaluation.
- Coordinate the segregation, collection, transportation, and disposal of medical and hazardous waste to prevent contamination and health hazards.
- Ensure strict adherence to infection control protocols and environmental health and safety guidelines throughout all waste handling processes.
- Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards associated with waste management activities and implement corrective measures.
- Maintain accurate documentation and reporting related to waste volumes, disposal methods, incidents, and compliance audits.
- Promote sustainable waste disposal practices, including waste minimization and recycling efforts, to reduce environmental impact.
- Collaborate with hospital departments and external waste disposal vendors to optimize waste management systems and resolve operational issues.
- Stay updated on changes in regulatory requirements and best practices in medical and hazardous waste management.
- Manage emergency response procedures related to waste spills or exposures, ensuring timely and effective incident control.
- Prepare reports and presentations for hospital management regarding the status of waste management operations and compliance.
- Implement continuous education programs for staff on hazardous waste handling, infection control, and safety practices.
- Oversee maintenance and proper use of personal protective equipment and waste management equipment to ensure workplace safety.
