The MEP Senior Draftsman is responsible for supervising the development and review of technical drawings, schematics, sectional details, and installation instructions that meet the highest quality and precision standards. This role demands exceptional attention to detail, problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines. The candidate also supports Building Information Modeling (BIM) coordination and clash detection activities, assists with quantity take-offs, material coordination, and maintains meticulous project documentation. As a leader, the Senior Draftsman will drive the team's performance, facilitate communication, and ensure each project phase aligns with client and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed MEP shop drawings, coordination drawings, and accurate as-built drawings for various projects.
- Develop HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, drainage, and electrical system layouts consistent with project plans and engineering specifications.
- Coordinate effectively with engineers, architects, consultants, and onsite teams to identify and resolve design conflicts.
- Ensure that all drawings comply with local authority regulations, international codes, and project requirements.
- Create sectional details, schematic diagrams, and installation instructions essential for project execution.
- Review and update drawings in response to site modifications, consultant feedback, and project changes.
- Support quantity take-off tasks and assist in managing material coordination to optimize project workflows.
- Maintain complete and organized records of all drawings, revisions, and documentation to support project continuity.
- Lead BIM coordination efforts, including clash detection and model integration, using Autodesk Revit and Navisworks.
- Guide and manage a team of five draftsmen, ensuring timely delivery of quality outputs and fostering professional development.
- Apply expertise in HVAC load calculations and utilize load calculation software for optimal system design.
- Adhere to and promote compliance with CAD standards and documentation protocols within the team.
