The Medical Procurement Specialist (MPS) is an individual responsible to incorporate skills and knowledge gained in a hospital environment and ensure that medical procurement at BIH is conducted in a very efficient manner, based on the appropriate policies and standards. The individual is required to be involved in the operations conducted in concerns to BIH.  

Key Duties & Responsibilities

MPS will be responsible and accountable for medical inventory management and therefore will be expected to supervise and manage the inventory flow and its lifetime. The job duties include the following but are not limited to:

  •  Contribute to integration and teamwork within the BIH Operations Unit
  •  Ensure:

Effectiveness and timeliness of all medical procurement for the BIH

 Transparency, integrity, competitiveness and reasonableness of all procurement actions; ensuring prevention of any fraudulent actions

  •  Build healthy relations with suppliers of the medical inventory
  •  Supervise staff involved in the medical procurement
  •  Procurement of BIH Medical equipment and supplies
  •  Ensure prompt ordering and stocking of this inventory
  •  Maintain and store monthly reports of medical inventory and report to immediate supervisor
  •  Supervise effective and efficient distribution of the inventory to the respective staff and/ or departments
  •  Ensure compliance in BIH procurement processes with corresponding policies and regulations
  •  Knowledge of proper and adequate disposal of expired, damaged etc. inventory
  •  Maintain high ethical standards and commitment to BIH’s core values in each aspect of work
  •  Ensure the security and confidentiality of official procurement data and records
  •  Exhibit detail orientation in maintain records and to report, maintain and keep safe procured properties
  • Furnish professional and timely responses to inquiries relating to procurement
  •  Excellent communication skills and displaying professionalism in both verbal and non-verbal communication
  •  Knowledge of proper and adequate disposal of (expired, damaged etc.) inventory
  •  Additionally, partake, in other non-medical procurement tasks and ensure managing it efficiently
  •  Implementing proper knowledge of transport of medical inventory in a safe, secure and efficient manner
  •  Regular reporting of all procurement processes to the Operations Manager
  •  Perform any other task assigned by the Operations Manager, BIH Director Operations and CEO

Person Specifications:

  •  Academic Qualification: Master’s degree or a min of a Bachelor’s degree (in a biology/ any other life sciences field)
  •  Past Experience: 4-5 years of relevant experience in a hospital
  •  Excellent communication skills (oral and written), including phone communication
  •  Experience working independently and as part of a team
  •  Have people’s skills and conflict resolution
  •  Proficiency in English and Urdu
