The intern will be supervised by ACD Programs. Supervisor will provide information about the program, and facilitate links to key staff and materials.  The intern will have the opportunity to visit the field and learn from observing field activities in the area of WASH and Education to ensure clarity of tasks and desired outputs are met. Support in terms of facilitating, settling in with the project and country office staff will be provided. The supervisor will be available to mentor the intern a minimum of 3 hours a week and more if needed from other program and support staff.

The intern will work with CARE Pakistan Program team.  CARE Pakistan has history of working in relief and rehabilitation particularly following natural and man- made disasters.While CARE’s program has had successes, internal reflections indicate some areas that still need intensive work.  These include better use of information generated within the program both to influence the quality of CARE’s operations as well as to be able to share learning more effectively with other stakeholders.  Thus – all of CARE International in Pakistan Programing in the future will include better reflection, documentation and dissemination. 

This can be done through improving the culture within CARE as an organization where staff take ownership of their successes as well as failures, where we learn from our mistakes and do not hesitate to share about challenges and find support in each other as we learn and grow. The intern can contribute in designing and developing team building activities and exercises that promote this shift in culture to one of ownership and learning. 

Another area where the intern can provide support is to improve gender sensitivity and awareness among its own as well as local partner staff members.  It is important that CARE and partner organization program participants look more carefully at their own beliefs and practices and have opportunity to reflect and deepen their gender based awareness and to understand better the underlying causes of violence and harassment. The intern will also have access to CARE’s thinking on rights based approaches and addressing underlying causes of marginalization and violence, and will be expected to use it to inform this work.

The intern will also provide support in administrative and clerical documentation, filing, researching and sorting information as needed by the program team.

Specific deliverables include:

1.A short document compiling success stories from different ongoing projects. These are to be human interest stories and capture the impact of the project. based on CARE’s project reports and a few follow up consultations with staff and or program participants.

 2. On going support to program in developing and completing program reports.

3. Administrative and clerical support in typing, printing filing and researching information.
