Under supervision of medical doctor, provide pharmacy services to the patients at static health unit and mobile camps. Fill drug orders, requisitions, and way bills dispenses medicines, advise the patients regarding the nature and use of drugs, and train and/or supervise pharmacy staff at various sites. Prepare and maintain all necessary records on drugs purchased, received dispatched and inventory.

The position is responsible for the timely delivery and ensuring quality standards of the varying health components implemented by CARE International in Pakistan within target affected areas by providing:

Key Responsibilities:

Pharmacy Assistant will be based in North Waziristan Agency and will ensure the consistent high quality community mobilization services.

§  Liaises with Supply Chain department regarding drugs and medical supplies order, buffer stocks and distribution to the Health Facilities/ BHU in a timely manner

§  Advise medical practitioners on drug indications/contraindications, dosage, drug interactions, and side effects; provide other drug and pharmaceutical information as appropriate

§  Oversee the acquisition (prepares drug orders) and disbursement of drugs and medical supplies to static health unit and mobile camps ensuring maintenance of cold chain as necessary and monitoring drug consumption.

§  Provide guidance and training to DoH Dispensers at various clinic sites during course of work, monitoring performance.

§  Maintain methods and manner of storage and recordkeeping systems to provide for safekeeping of pharmaceuticals in line with standard drug management and logistics guidelines (Keep both paper and computer records)

§  Follow established departmental policies, procedures and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety environmental standards

§  Keep records of incidents e.g. drug errors, poor quality, and expired drugs as requested by medical doctor.

§  Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the Medical Doctor as long as they do not interfere with routine work tasks

§  Prepare and submit reports to all concerned within due time

Working Conditions Pharmacy Assistant’s position is purely field based and requires regular field visit to BHUs.  Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy with a minimum of 2 years’ experience
  • Knowledge of Medicines/ drugs/ pharmaceuticals management
  • Experience in dispensing and vaccination will be an added advantage
  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power point.

§  Pharmacy management skills

§  Strong communication skills in Pushto.

§  Must be aware and sensitive to the culture, norms and values of FATA.

§  Ability to solve problemes and work independently in field. 

§  Ability to work well under pressure and in response to changing needs.

§  Sensitivity to the needs and priorities of disadvantaged populations

§  Demonstrated experience of integrating gender and diversity issues into public health promotion
