1. Background
CESVI Foundation-ETS, with the support of the World Food Program (WFP), is implementing a comprehensive project on ‘’Integrated Climate Risk Management for Strengthened Resilience to Climate Change in Shangla Districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province,” funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF). Shangla is highly vulnerable to flash floods due to its topography and hydrological conditions. The project aims to develop inclusive, gender-responsive AA protocols, strengthen early warning systems (EWS), build the capacity of district and sub-national stakeholders, and raise community awareness on preparedness and disaster risk reduction (DRR).
The Project Coordinator will be responsible for the overall management, coordination, and implementation of project activities in Shangla, ensuring technical quality, alignment with donor requirements, and close collaboration with government counterparts, communities, and humanitarian partners.
2. Role Purpose
The Project Coordinator will lead the implementation of all field-level activities in Shangla district, providing technical, managerial, and coordination support. S/he will act as the primary focal point with district-level authorities (DDMCs, DDMUs, line departments), communities, and partner organizations. The role requires ensuring that anticipatory action, IBF tools, and DRR protocols are effectively institutionalized, inclusive, and gender- and disability-responsive.

4. Required Qualifications and Competencies
Education
· Master’s degree in Disaster Risk Management, Environmental Sciences, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field.
5. Experience
· At least 5–7 years of progressively responsible experience in disaster risk reduction (DRR), Anticipatory Actions (AA), climate change, or related field.
· Proven experience in anticipatory action, early warning systems, or impact-based forecasting preferred.
· Demonstrated capacity in stakeholder coordination with government institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs.
· Prior experience working in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly Shangla or similar contexts, is highly desirable.
6. Skills and Competencies
· Strong project management and team leadership skills.
· Solid understanding of participatory approaches, gender mainstreaming, and disability inclusion in DRR.
· Excellent communication, facilitation, and negotiation skills.
· Proficiency in report writing, data analysis, and presentation.
· Familiarity with GIS-based tools, IBF systems, and digital communication channels (SMS, apps, etc.) is an asset.
· Fluency in English, Urdu, and Pashto (preferred).
7. Duty Station and Travel
· Based in Shangla district with frequent travel to Union Councils, villages, and field sites.
· Periodic travel to Peshawar and Islamabad for coordination and reporting.
