It was in the year 1996, when COMSATS launched its ISP services under the name of COMSATS Internet Services thus becoming the pioneer ISP of Pakistan. COMSATS is an international, inter-Governmental science organization, aiming at socio-economic uplift of the third world through useful applications of science and technology. COMSATS has launched many successful projects which include the most reputed COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) and COMSATS Internet Services (CIS). Since its inception CIS has been growing and opening up branches in almost all major cities of Pakistan namely: Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Sialkot, Faisalabad and Multan (inaugurated in 2011). CIS was also a Cisco training partner back in 2000. CIS has also been very active in providing social services to the poor and needy people. CIS donated generously to the flood victims in 2010. CIS has recently launched another social service by the name of Comclinic. Comclinic is a telehealth service which is offered to patients in rural areas free of any charges. The first ever telehealth clinic has been established at Gokina village near Pir Sohawa, Islamabad and more clinics will be opened in future. The following eight brands form “The Colors of CIS”: Freedom™ (Wi-Fi DSL), Tornado™ (Wireless P2P links), Hurricane™ (On-demand broadband), Hawaii™ (Domain and hosting), Comtrain™ (IT training), Viacon™ (Video conferencing), Prism™ (Web development), Comclinic™ (Telehealth program) Our list of clients includes well-known national and international companies and firms, software and business companies, foreign missions, Consulates and Embassies, Non-Governmental Organizations, Universities, social development and research organizations. CIS has 75000 customers, majority of them are corporate entities. New customers are signing up every month for obtaining CIS services.
