Carries out installation, maintenance, trouble shooting and repair of a wide range of high and low voltage equipment, switchgears, control panels, UPS systems, variable speed drives, generators, motors, transformers, protection relays, lighting systems and laboratory equipment, etc.
Receives daily work schedule and instructions from the Electrical Supervisor. Obtains approved “Permit to work”, necessary tools and spare parts to carry out the job. Ensures that all mechanical maintenance, installation or modification work is completed according to specific instructions, applicable work methods and procedures, and in compliance with QHSE standards.
Carries out the routine predictive and preventive maintenance checks on various electrical equipment including various types of batteries. Carries out verifications tests and readings. Carries out protection relays testing and calibrations & technical testing of equipment after repairs.
Carries out major shutdown maintenance or overhaul work including the dismantling, repair, part change, checking, cleaning, and reassembly of low and high voltage motors and starters, high and low voltage switchgears and feeder breakers. This includes changing of low and high voltage motors bearings.
Performs installation of new equipment and machineries. Carries out equipment and system modifications as per specific instructions received from Electrical Supervisor.
Maintains the maintenance logbook, recording details of the works carried out/completed including defaults, problems, various findings and conditions of the machines.
Complies with all company Health, Safety & Environmental policies and procedures.
Conducts all work activities in a safe and environmentally responsible manner by not taking on any task(s) that are perceived as unsafe and if in doubt, consults supervisor/manager before proceeding.
Participates in HSE meetings and company QHSE promotional programs.
Reports all accidents, incidents or near misses to supervisor/manager or to the QHSE Department if supervisor/manager is not available.
Participates in on-the-job training of assigned Qatari developers, monitors their progress and makes recommendations on how to support their learning and progression.
Performs other similar or related duties as assigned.
