Expert Transport Network Operations IP

This position is responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of a nationwide IP network backbone, ensuring reliable connectivity and optimal performance. The role involves managing customer complaints from corporate and commercial clients, configuring network devices, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with vendors and internal teams on projects, audits, and upgrades. Reporting to the Manager Transport Operations - IP & MPBN, the successful candidate will work within a dedicated team based in Islamabad.

Key Responsibilities
Ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of IP-MPLS-MPBN, IXP, and Enterprise Data Networks. Define and maintain VPN tunnels, including Site-to-Site (IPSec) and Remote Access, to support corporate customers, vendors, and employees. Prepare Method of Procedures (MOPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to guide the team in resolving issues and improving processes. Manage inter-VRF routing in line with business requirements. Troubleshoot Layer 2 and Layer 3 routing protocols such as OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, BGP, VRRP, and STP. Configure and implement firewall rules for inter-zone communication, NAT for internet connectivity, and publishing. Analyze and execute planning team work orders related to new flow definitions and network expansions. Provide nationwide network support to Jazz sales and zonal offices, including level 1 and level 2 support to other teams. Deliver Wi-Fi support across Jazz offices countrywide. Oversee the operation of Call Center Network Operations for voice and data services. Support Jazz’s nationwide data centers and MSC locations in network operations. Identify opportunities for network optimization and collaborate with planning and L-2 TXN teams to implement improvements. Conduct regular network audits and redundancy tests to detect and resolve operational issues. Manage installation and on-site support for Google, Facebook, and Akamai cache servers during capacity upgrades. Perform on-site MPBN network expansions. Adhere to operational schedules and be prepared to work shifts, including holidays and emergency call-outs.

Required Qualifications
A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with IP-MPLS (Service Provider) and Enterprise networks is essential. Strong understanding of IXP network infrastructure and MPLS protocols is required. Proficiency with CLI on Huawei, Juniper, and Fortinet IP devices is necessary. Expertise in routing protocols including BGP (iBGP & eBGP), MPLS, RSVP, LDP, OSPF, IS-IS, RIP, and static routing is expected. Ability to engage vendors effectively to ensure timely service restoration is important. Experience with Huawei NCE NMS systems and related software tools such as MRTG and UFM is preferred. Knowledge of electrical and optical cable installation standards and best practices is required. Strong communication and presentation skills to clearly convey technical solutions are essential. The candidate must demonstrate a strong learning aptitude and the ability to work effectively under pressure. Willingness to work 24/7 shifts, including public holidays, as an emergency resource is mandatory.
