Fabric Collection is seeking a highly skilled Legal Consultant with at least five years of experience to join our growing international business as a strategic legal advisor. This long-term freelance role requires a proactive and trusted professional who can provide ongoing legal support and business advisory services on a monthly retainer basis. The ideal candidate possesses strong corporate and business legal advisory experience, particularly in startup, technology, SaaS, or international business environments. The consultant will work closely with leadership to identify legal risks before they arise, provide clear explanations of complex legal concepts in simple business terms, and deliver commercial and strategic recommendations that enhance and protect the companys operations.
This role demands an individual who is dependable, responsive, and committed to building a lasting advisory relationship. The Legal Consultant will not only support contract drafting, negotiation, and review but also offer comprehensive guidance on compliance, risk management, corporate governance, and international expansion. The position does not involve managing a team but focuses heavily on independent, responsible legal counsel and hands-on business decision support.
Responsibilities
- Provide regular scheduled consultation sessions and be available for urgent legal or business discussions when necessary.
- Offer proactive legal and business advice, anticipating risks and suggesting improvements without waiting to be prompted.
- Continuously identify legal risks, compliance deficiencies, and operational vulnerabilities within the companys workflows and structures.
- Support contract drafting, review, negotiation strategies, and analysis of vendor and customer agreements to minimize legal exposure.
- Guide leadership in legal matters related to business decisions using a strategic and commercially practical approach.
- Assist in developing legal safeguards, policies, internal controls, and compliance frameworks tailored to international business operations.
- Advise on corporate governance and commercial risk management to strengthen the companys legal and operational foundation.
- Recommend best practices for regulatory compliance, intellectual property management, including trademark registration and patent filing.
- Utilize contract management and compliance software tools to streamline legal processes and maintain documentation integrity.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion in all advisory activities and corporate communications.
- Build a long-term, trusted relationship by providing ongoing strategic insights and timely responses that align with company goals.
- Continuously update legal knowledge relevant to the company's industry and jurisdiction to ensure best practice advisories.
- Support the companys international business expansion by advising on cross-border legal matters and regulatory frameworks.
- Evaluate contractual obligations and risks associated with new business opportunities to protect company interests.
- Prepare and present clear reports and summaries of legal findings and recommendations to non-legal stakeholders.
- Foster a proactive legal culture within the organization by raising awareness of compliance and risk reduction strategies.
