Frontier Platinum Group seeks a detail-oriented Import Officer to support and manage the importation processes essential to the companys supply chain operations. This role involves handling all import documentation, coordinating customs clearance procedures, and ensuring strict adherence to international trade regulations and customs compliance policies. The Import Officer collaborates closely with internal departments and external vendors to guarantee timely and efficient transport of goods, facilitating smooth inbound shipments that meet the companys operational and financial targets. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of supply chain management and expertise in import compliance software to maintain high standards of accuracy and regulatory adherence. The ideal candidate brings at least three years of experience in a similar role and demonstrates strong organizational and communication skills. The Import Officer does not manage a team but works collaboratively with various stakeholders including customs authorities, vendors, and logistics providers. Key responsibilities include managing trade and import documentation, validating shipment details, monitoring shipment delivery, overseeing compliance with customs and trade laws, controlling import-related costs, and tracking key performance indicators to support continuous improvement in import operations.
Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and manage all import documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with international trade regulations and company policies.
  • Coordinate customs clearance processes by working closely with customs brokers and government agencies to avoid delays and ensure timely release of shipments.
  • Validate inbound shipment details against purchase orders and delivery documents to confirm accuracy and consistency.
  • Ensure compliance with customs and import regulations by maintaining up-to-date knowledge of legal requirements and applying them to all import activities.
  • Collaborate with vendors, suppliers, and internal teams including logistics and procurement to ensure smooth import operations and timely delivery of goods.
  • Utilize import compliance software and tools to track shipments, monitor import statuses, maintain records, and generate compliance reports.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in shipment documentation or shipment contents promptly to minimize operational disruption.
  • Monitor and control import-related costs by analyzing shipment invoices and negotiating with service providers as needed.
  • Manage key performance indicators related to import activities and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Support customer service efforts by addressing inquiries related to inbound shipments, delivery status, and import compliance.
  • Maintain accurate records for audit readiness and support internal and external audits related to import processes.
  • Stay current with changes in customs laws and trade regulations and implement necessary adjustments to ensure ongoing compliance.
